Anybody using slip in silencers for over transom headers? Pros/cons, are they worth the money? Im running Bassetts on my 429(600+/- hp) with super traps but still require ear plug for extended running, not to mention hassles with the fish pigs over noise. And its such a sweet sound @5400-5600rpm!!! :D Sounds like music to me but the wife says if we get kicked off the lake again the headers gotta go :( .I think not! Anyways gimme some input guys!!

They are almost a necessity. Alot of lakes have little or no sense of humor about it. The good thing is they are easily removeable when you must get those last MPH's.

Hey omega
We have a couple different models of slip ins for headers. Just take a look on our website. While no slip-in silencer yields full hp, they are removable and it's better than a big $ ticket or gettin kicked off the water.

I've tried all the mufflers and none can quiet the engine down enough without major restriction. Especially with a big cube blower motor. Few people are willing to do what it takes to quiet it down, Except me. http://www.childsdale-ind-prop.com/unchexhaust4.jpg Now the exhaust is underwater when idling and slightly above water when planed out and running NO MUFFLERS. I've run this the whole season now and it is working great. My friend Roger calls it the potato launcher :D Someone else called it the wheelbarrow.
