View Full Version : how much will it cost me to replace 455 olds to a BBC?

hey guy's i want to replace my 455 olds with a BBC. i turned another rod today at the lake @4900 rpm's i hate this damb engine man the good thing is that i have warrenty on this engine so thier gonna fix it for free. but i really want to put a BBC in it now how much cost is their as far as cabling, hoses, exsaust pipes, ect. goes. can anyone please tell me a price and i'm hoping the machine shop will replace my 455 with a BBC either a 454, 427 i reall want, or biger i dunno

Other then the engine it's self if you buy used parts it shouldn't be that bad. You didn't say what kind of exhaust you need. I see logs going for pretty cheep and used Bassets are not that bad. Engine mounts can be found used pretty easy also.
Now the engine.... You know the saying, speed costs, how fast can you afford.
But if your Olds is fixed and still running when you make the swap you can sell all that stuff to re-coup some of your cost.

ive got a 402 bbc complete new cam and lifters still in the box has a set of bassetts on it motor has lots of hi perf parts ill take 2000.00 iam in virginia or you can call me at 540.427.2090 ill give you more info
has all motor plates with it also

What happened man? I have Dooley 10Qt w/high vol pump. Turn 4900 at New Hogan res. all day. No restrictors. Get a little oil out of valve covers is all.But it cant be all 10qts? Check out mains and rod bearings, if a lot down to copper she sucked dry. Let me know I have same basic setup as you but no restrictors.
