Got the sleeve to an old muffler caught in the OT pipe of a Bassett header. Any magic on getting it out? Tried to pry it out with a long screw driver, and tried vice grips. Any suggestions?

If its the dual wedge type, I had to use a little chain and a hook (the kind that bites back on the chain) on the end it. Slip the hook in, pull it out, it should catch on one of the wedges and give it a firm yank. It helps to squirt the crap out of the insides with WD40.

Just sounds like a good excuse to go buy some new Bassett's. J/K
Try the WD40 thing, and maybe try pushing it back in the collector a little and then twisting while you pull it back out, sounds like you got a big ass burr on the muffler.
Good Luck

Brian- Did you finally break down and put O/T headers on your boat?

Slide hammer puller with the jaws turned around, works every time!

If these other ideas fail take a hack saw blade and carfully cut it. Then use a screw driver and pry up one end. Use a pair of plyers and pull it out. Tim
