Very true that is why we might even drop down to a 26 daytona, any how are plans were to strap a pro-charger on after the first year!!!

I would guess in the 60's. Right now there is a bad ass 28' LP for sale with twin small blocks that are whippled. The boat runs in the 140's I think....look in the back of Hot Boat. How much is a NEW 28' LP with a 496HO and open bow? 100k+?

Ya right around there!! It all depends on what kind of goodies you want the boat to come with!!

Not fast enough. It would be an all show no go boat as they say. IMHO....that boat needs twins.

Thats why we are now seriously looking at the 26 daytona with a 496ho should put it at or close to 70mph, for the first year to break it in and get used to itsounds good to me!!! :D

I don't normally tell people how to spend their money, but if I was going to drop 100K on that boat with the base 496; I would figure out a way to beg, borrow and steal and step up to the $130 range and get Cat & Mice's Boat....See below thread
Daytona 28 for sale (http://forums.***boat.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=7;t=000606)
I understand it is like 30% more, but you have to consider upgrades you will do on your boat, and the replacement cost of his boat. Once you get your cat, you will go maybe 70, and within 6 months to year you will drop 10K on engine upgrades, whipple, procharger, exhaust, etc...and you will only be going 85-88, and be into the boat for around 110K...for around 20K more, you could have a boat that is complete and ready to do 130...If I had the grip, that 28 would be mine. :)

I'ed get a 454 or 502 if I could. That way you could up grade easier later on.

First off, I am a huge fan of the 28 Daytona LP. I think the LP is one of the nicest looking cats on the market.
Second, I agree with MBrown2 100% That boat is absolutely sick. I would buy it in a second if I had the dinero. But I don't, so its all yours.
Third, I have talked to the Eliminator dealer in phoenix on numerous occasions about the 28 LP, and he says go twin small blocks or go 600 HP single minimum. I hear $$$$$ He told me, if you don't put this amount of power, you will be highly disappointed. 100K doesn't = disappointment in my mind.
Best of luck, and let us know what you decide.
Oh yeah, here's another website for that 28 Lp with twins: pyleperformance.com

friend of mine had that boat, Took his Pfoff (sp?) motor from his howard and put it in there (approx 1000hp) and was very dissapointed.. Said boat weighed way more than was told and performance sucked. he since sold it and went away from the cat and bought a Howard Bullet

XLGPP,
The boat you are refering to(Pete's)is a tall deck
28.It was on the cover of ***boat. The boat said MUMIFIED on the back...Supposedly the tall deck version weighs 500lbs. more than the LP.
I had the pleasure of racing Pete in his 22 Howard,of course that was when it had the 502efi,he then went to a 750hp.pfaff motor. If I remember correctly he ran that motor until he got beat, then he upped the ante to the 1000hp.Pfaff
I have always wondered, word around Elephant Butte was that he would drag the boat back to Pfaff's shop just to get the oil changed.(1600 mile or so round trip)

Single 496? That's over two tons of boat, low to mid 60's at best. Go for twin 6.2/Bravos and build big inch motors later.
