I wanted to take the family to Havasu but it looks like the Eliminator Regatta will be in full swing and that makes it WAY too busy for us. Any suggestions? We were thinking Mohave. Never been to most of these places so I need where to stay and anything cool about it. Thanks for the help....NB

Nash,
Mohave is nice, especially with families on board, less wildness than Havasu.
Staying at any of the Laughlin Casino's is good, and the marina is a short drive...but be ready for long launch lines at Katherines landing.
There are alternatives to this ramp, telephone cove is dirt(but good) and the Indian Res. ramp is a long dirt road drive.
I'm sure there will be others to tell you more.

Mohave will have fewer boats, no doubt. You can stay in Laughlin and launch from Katherines. Or, Cottonwood Cove has motel rooms. Pretty isolated. Rooms cost about 50.OO-100 a night depending on the weekend. I think its about 50.00 right now. Nice beaches by the Davis Dam. Turn left out of Katherines, head south, and nice sandy beaches on the left. Gasoline Alley is to the right out of KATHERINES about a mile or two. Nice jump, better than Copper Canyon. Willow beach about 30-45 minutes north from Cottonwood. Great canyon view. You may get lonely for people at Mohave. No boobs, but less explaining to the kids. Have fun

Thanks for the help. I forgot that Las Vegas Hot Boats is having the party this weekend so if CottonWood has any rooms left were there! It will be nice as they all know where to go and hang out and the "Boob' thing not happening with the kids is all good.

If you really want to do Havasu, go to Havasu Springs. It is at the South End part of the Lake and is worlds away from the madness up around the bridge. It is a really nice family place. Nice restaurant, and nice arcade for the kids, gas docks, sandy beach, and you might be able to rent slips. Also, if you want to go up and visit the bridge it is only 23 miles up the lake. If you want to do the Parker strip, you are less than a mile to a launch ramp for the Parker strip. I will be in Parker this weekend, if you want more info, pm me.

Also, even when Mojave is just mildly busy, the launch ramps at Katherine's are a joke. Get their super early or be prepared to wait.

Were going to launch at CottonWood resort with the rest of the LVHB boaters. Never been to Parker, hear its pretty shallow sometimes.

Hey NashvilleBound,
If Cottonwood has no vacancies you might try staying in Laughlin and driving up to Cottonwood on Saturday morning. It’s supposed to be about an hour drive to the ramp. That’s what we and some other people from LVHB are doing. Hope to see you at Mohave. :D :D

Go to mohave and launch at Princess Cove..... long ramp and small dock, never crowded, I'll be there Memorial Day Weekend. The launch at princess is cool, but the road there SUCKS  . It's like 5 miles of dirt and rock road, mostly rocks. Got a flat there last year in my 2000 Silverado. Couldn't lower the spare, boat was still on the water. Wasn't the only one, saw a couple of trailers with flats also. By the time we got things worked out, it was 10 pm and everyone was pissed.
When I got home, there was a recall notice from chevy. "Vehicles with tow package may have trouble lowering spare tire"
My advice, get there earily enough to launch from telephone cove. SC

They have a bowling ally, movie theater, few nice restaurants and one less expensive one. Also 2 different bars. One is a country western deal so you might like that one. All under one roof.

The Ramada in Laughlin is good. Clean, family environment (except all the gambling stuff). Watch out for the waverunner cops when you return to Katherine's in the afternoon - they'll pull everybody over for a "safety" inspection and harrass you. Not fun.
