OK, I just inked the next trip. Sat 9-14 to Tues 9-17. Hustler, you and Fufu are already inked! Tyson and Chris, I can't think of reasons for you two not to bring your lovely ladies and get your sorry asses out there. Boater Bill, Eric, Brandon,Randy the rest of you? Summers almost gone (to quote the Doors)! Lets get it done kids. I have the point reserved at Needles Marina Park. There's room for 1 more travel trailer and at least 5 tents! There are still a couple of more spots on the lagoon for the motorhome folks too. Come on out and we'll do the camp/bbq/laugh at Disco's nudity thing. If we get enough out, we can make it the unofficial CBBB2 (minus Em's awesome organization). If enough of you come, we'll do the beer keg thing and do it up right.

I'll be up on Mohave the weekend before & in Mex on a surf trip the weekend after. I don't think I'll have much luck getting time off for that weekend too, but I'll ask.

Disco,
I think we might be able to make that... depending on when Mr. Baddass Racer in his not so green anymore Spectra gets his date with the Dyno. :) So long as the dyno run is after the 14th or a week before I'd say he can make it. BTW, how damn hot is it going to be if I go the tent route? Im thinking the Tahoe might object to idling all evening with the AC on just so I have a cool place to sleep :) I'll talk to Em and see what her calendar looks like.
As far as it being an unofficial CBBB2, it can't. :p CBBB2 will be held the second weekend in August at the Avi. We figgured that if we always made it the same time, it would lessen the flake factor that we encountered this time around. Although, if we only get the same boats together next year, you wouldn't see me complain one bit. We have already started making arrangements and you should be able to make your reservations with the Avi for next year within the week. I have to get over to the other casa to start sanding on hefe's boat, so I'll talk to ya later.

ChrisAs far as that goes, I personally have an air conditioned tent. About 85 at night, so yes, very hot. I just put a window air conditioner, I bought at Fry's for $130, on a milk crate halfway in the tent and zip the door around it. Tanja sleeps under a blanket and complains that it's "cold". My buddy who is also going to be there has a 19 foot trailer with A/C. If it gets real bad, we could beat the hell out of him and take the trailer...though I'm not so sure we can take his wife, she's kinda mean. J/K they're good folks. Also, just outside the park, there are about 4 or 5 hotels that only charge $25 a night and they are within staggering distance. The camping route is more fun. They have good showers and bathrooms (Tanja gives them her seal of approval.)
Miss HB, the summers almost over, you should push for that third trip. If I can get Tyson, Shannon, Chris and Emily up there with Hustler and Fufu, it looks like a good party.

I just found out that the only wierd thing is that Tanja is going to be flying into Bullhead that afternoon, or driving herself out that evening. Baby Shower. She's still coming though. So it's me, my buddy Mark, Hustler and Fufu staying up river and a bunch of you guys hemming and hawing. Come on now, lets get this DONE! You know you're going to have an incredible time, so sack up and lets end the summer with a drunken riot at NMP!

I'm thinking about it. I need to know how much camping is a night. Money is going to play a big factor but it would be cool hanging out in Needles again. I have a solution to the hot tent sleeping situation-just get really drunk and pass out and you won't know the difference between hot and cold-it usually works for me. However, the next morning is a little rough. Nothing a strong cup of coffee, a bagel, some alka seltzer morning relief, and a morning boat ride can't fix. Sounds like a killer weekend. Ever since CBBB and our ride to the sandbar I have been wanting to head up there with my boat. Also stopping in Topac was rad.For now I am a maybe. I will let you know Disco when we get closer to the date.

Alright folks, here we go. If we're going to do this, I need to know if you people are really coming. I want to do this right. I'm looking at getting some tri tip, ribs, hot links, and chicken for a rather large BBQ on Sat night. I also reserved a second spot on the lagoon which I have to back out on by this Fri, or I pay for anyway. I saw the prices for camping. It's 33.50 a night for a sight, plus 7.50 per each additional person other than the first carload. So, get off yer asses peeps. The weather was excellent (just got back last night). It's cooling off at night now, and it's still toasty during the day. This has potential to be a very good time. Camping is cool, boating is cool, don't you people want to be cool?

Disco- I think dough is just going to be too tight to make it that weekend. Leslie and I have our one year anniversary coming up and we are planning a weekend trip down to San Diego at the end of September so I need to save a few hundo for that. If by some miracle I can scrape up a few bills to go I'll let you know as soon as I can. I was thinking of maybe inviting a few friends to supplement my operating expenses. That trip aside Leslie and I would like to plan a trip to Blythe to McIntyre park for one of the last trips of the season. It's rad there just ask Cyclone. We would like to get the whole CBBB crew out there, Chris, Tyson, Hustler and Candy, Erik, Cyclone, HB Jet, Boater Bill, you and whoever else wants to come. I have been there about 10 times and really know the water and the people in the park-basically a local. You can launch your boat on a normal weekend, leave your truck and trailer on the ramp while you go park the boat in the lagoon and come back to your truck and park it. There is a general store on sight (get your beer before you show up as they got their liquor license pulled), clean bathrooms with hot showers, a Texaco gas pump for emergency fill ups on land, as well as another Texaco up river aways. It's cool getting gas on the water-it just feels like the river. There is a rad cove called Goose Flats we always head to and it's rad to just go up river, shut the boats off, and float for a while. The campgrounds are all grass and run 20.00 a night. It's also a trailer park so quiet hours are around 10:00 but everyone usually just heads down to the beach at night with a cooler to alleviate that problem. You guys will have a rad time and meet alot of cool boaters. Hustler you will have no problem at Blythe. There are boats your size all over although McIntyre is over the transom header 18-19 foot country. It will be killer to knee board behind your boat and there is a bridge for you to squirt. No dates have been determined yet but e-mail me and give me ideas. Keep in mind that some time is needed to save dough. Usually a normal weekend at Blythe requires 200-250. I've gotten by on two bills everytime I have gone. Drive time towing is about 4.5 hours.

All right people, this is looking good! Bill I'm really glad you're going. I'll shoot you an email.
This is the deal. I'm coming up early on Sat morning, but the sites are reserved for Friday night also if you want to come up that night. We have site # 99 (the point) and site # 172 (two down from the point). The reservations are under Stockbridge if the hired help come asking. Just leave space in sight #99 next to the hook ups for my buddy's trailer. There is plenty of room at the two sites if you unhook your trailer from the truck and park your trailer in the trailer parking by the ramp. Both of those sites are on the lagoon. I just got back and the water is high enough to leave your boat in over night in the lagoon if you want. You do have to be out of the lagoon by about 10am, cause after that the water goes down pretty seriously. The ramp is wide and pretty easy. Go across the river to the Mobil or the Arco (over the bridge) for gas. It's a lot cheaper. There is a gas dock on the water at the park. 2.54 for 92. There's also a pretty gppd store, and it's real close to fast food and Supermarkets.
I will probably roll out of the 909 about 5am on Sat morning. That puts me at Needles at about 830am. If anyone wants to Caravan, contact me by email. If you'd like, you can crash at my pad the night before. I have room, but it's not an estate!
I plan very seriously to do that BBQ, but I'll need a little help for the side dishes. I will supply the meat (no jokes please, my ego is fragile from my wife teasing me.) It will be a party. Drinks, and the like. If you have a specialty, bring it (hint, hint to Fufu.) I'm bringing a mini keg of German Beer, probably some other exotic (read toxic) German alcohol. Supply your own Silvers.
I look foreward to this greatly. If there are any requests for adventures, I'm open to suggestions, email me. I assume that we will run to the sandbar on Sat, so those of you married to Havasu, come on up. To the ladies, I promise to try to keep my clothing on. It will be easier on everyones stomach that way. wink

I'm still on the fence about the 14th. The reason being is that I might be making a drastic change to the 20 that wouldn't leave much time for testing. I'll know tomorrow if I'm pulling the trigger or not, but I'm not talking about it either way :) I'll let you know for sure by the end of next week if we will be heading to Needles for the 14th. Sorry to string you along, but I hate to say, yes and then pull a no show.

Chris, I understand completely.
Dick. The sites I have reserved have room for one more trailer and probably 5 more tents. They are full hook up. If you'd like your own spot, I know they have plenty of spots left, but none by the water. As far as a definite goes, it looks like me, Boater Bill, Hustler/Fufu (Joe and Candi are staying in Bullhead), Hack Job (Tyson), the possiblies are Tom Foolery (Erik) and Flat Broke (Chris). I'm not sure about the HBjets. I haven't heard since MissHB said they were a maybe.

This is going to be my official flake out post, so hold off on the retort until you get to the bottom. :) I'm still missin parts for my "not so secret since Lake Ming" upgrade to the 20. It doesn't look like the most important box is going to get here until mid week, which just wouldn't leave enough time to tune everything to my satisfaction (you know, gas leaking all over the place, puffing black clouds of smoke as I roll into the lagoon). Add to this the fact that Em has a bridal shower to attend on Saturday, and perhaps you can see why we're not going to be in attendance. I feel bad because I know first hand how bad it sucks to have a high flake factor on outings. But since I never gave a solid yes, I don't feel quite as bad. I hope everyone has a great time and that you guys take some pictures for the rest of us who are stayin home. With any luck, I'll get to hook up with everyone in October down at McIntyre.

Actually, we should be on the water by 10 or 11...Depends on if we really can roll out of Barstow around 7 or 730, and what the stretch out of Ludlow looks like.

What offends me? F***ing friends that flake on Thursday night before the weekend river trip! Looks like I am cruising solo this weekend. Anyone in the San Fernando Valley want to go with? If not, I am assuming there will be enough people at this event to stash some headcount (at least one) in my boat.
Cool. Alright then.

DC, dont bother waiting for me. I am unconfirmed until tomorrow morning. I didnt get tonight off like I had planned, and dont get off until 730 in the am anyways. I am still waiting to hear from buddy with LAFD as well. Apparently, the CV joint on my Chevy 1500 is going out on the drivers side, so I am gonna see if we can use his Dodge to pull the boat, cos the Toyota cant pull that far...otherwise it would take me an hour to get up the grapevine. -DD Out

You guys have fun now! :D And don't forget...No Drinking and Driving wink ....always stop the boat momentarily while taking a swig, that way you don't spray the person behind you when you spill some. :D

Joe, the water was nice on Sunday but I didn't get out, was just too leery of that launch area by the time I got it together. :D Monday the wind came up but we rode down to Moabi with Disco to check it out. Good to see you guys again, nice meeting your folks. Sannie had those hot wings for breakfast on Sunday! eek! Fixed her right up. :D

I think that we need to change Boater Bills name to Trailer Bill. wink Tanja and I too, had a great time. We enjoyed the company and liked the sitting around and bullshitting part. We certainly appreciated all that everyone brought for the BBQ. Good food from Sannie, Joe and Mark, and very good Fufu from Candi.
Now for the gory details. So Bill gets a few beers in him and decides he doesn't need to wear clothes. eek! There are kids in the campgrounds and some parents come over and ask Bill to put his shorts on. Bill tells them to pound sand. Says "I paid for my spot and I'll be naked if I want." So in roll the cops. Bill is off in a naked streak. He runs under the bridge and into the bushes. Helicopter comes and the cops try to find him but can't. Bill evades. We have to throw food into the bushes for the next two days so he won't starve. Sannie is crazy mad at Bill...ugly scene.
My boat went for a ride with no one in it, I swear I thought I had enough anchor line out.
Joe and Candi were so horrified by my poor BBQ skills that they made some story up about not being able to get into the park on the second day. :(
However, no one went to jail for an OUI, nobody bled (though my nuts are a little sore from a terrible tubing accident), and for the most part I think a good time was had by all.
Favorite moment: Boater Bill standing up in his boat floating by Park Moabi and yelling "I fu**ing love this!"
Least favorite: waking up this morning and realizing I had to go home.

Okay, I have my trauma kit, and am ready to take my beating for flaking. However, before we do that, let me just say that that was NOT my intention!!!! My pitiful explanation is as follows...
1. CV Joint going out on Chevy....didnt realize it until it was up on the rack getting a trailer brake wired in.
2. Toyota V6 will pull boat to river, but will take just about 3 days to get there. No option there.
3. LA City buddy that has Dodge V-8 flakes on me, due to selling house. No option there.
I was fully committed to going. I had all my stuff packed, the pets fed, and the blow up dolls sitting on the couch watching TV (its a home invasion preventative thing)
So, to DC, I offer my most sincere apologies, and say, if you show to Pyramid next month, all the beer is on me for the day!!!! Okay boys, grab your Louisville sluggers, and let the beatings begin.
-DD Out
