Had lunch with Chestah today and he mentioned you were going, maybe pipesclean and I will see you out there on Sunday - I think he has your cell phone number - we'll give you a call when we get there.

just got back from the races, all in all a good weekend...... we took 1st place in mod-jet :D , but unfortunately we lost in the semifinal in the 8.50 bracket to "boat030" cry , we lost at the starting line and ended up running our best e.t. of the weekend, an 8.70 to his 8.90... just goes to show that its not just about being fast, good race boat030...... saw some pretty nice runs, and some hairy runs eek! , a flattie wrecked to pieces at half track and he was haulin ass, but luckally last i heard the driver was gonna be fine :D . also coach's all red papp boat caught on fire saturday afternoon, but it wasnt that bad and they got it runnin for sunday ... urban menace put down a couple of badass runs in his TAH, and there were a couple TAF's and pro-mods puttin down some good runs. there werent any fuelers, and nowhere near the amount of capsule boats that were at the last race, i'm guessing cause of phoenix next weekend  ...
nobody ever came by and said hi, in case you did see us, i was the one wearing the black clay smith "mr. horsepower" apron (keeps the shirt clean). i did get to say hi to BBT though. and i figure i met boat030, but i dont know which one you are  , are you the driver? youre not hammer are you?
p.s. pipesclean and big proppa, what happened did ya get scared yuk

Ya I heard the flat was Shawn Thurston. Hope everything is okay. Anyone hear why it went over? I too wish I could have gone. Hopefully we'll make the next race. Congrats to the winners.

I talked to my uncles Shawn and Matt Thurston last night after I got the news. Shawn seems to be good just really banged up and will be heading home this morning. From what they both said the boat got high after the shift and when he grabbed the plate that was all she wrote. He got thrown pretty hard and far but all the saftey equipment worked perfect. They said they weren't too sure about the future but Shawn did say he can't just sit around and look a engine and no boat.

I handed BBT a win. Failed to put the plug in the boat. Nearly sank it. Still had a great time.

Vince-
Tom is my dad and Shawn, Matt (owner of 238) and Ted (builder of 238) are all brothers. You and I have actually talked a lot at the races.

Ya, I remember now. How's everything going? Last I heard you guys were thinking about moving to Havasu. Is your old man going to run any races this year? Was Shawn's boat the same mold as your old man's boat?

flatbottomguru
04-30-2003, 12:40 AM
Yeah he has had a house there for over a year and is planning on moving asap. Shawn and Matts boat was out of a new mold that Ted and Matt came up with 2 years ago based off a howard and had a really cool new deck with a tall crown. We are putting a few new things together and should be out soon. Hey tell your dad thanks for beating me to the punch on those cylinder heads, talk about being 8 hours too late.

Which ones were they? Hope to see you guys come out. We should be making most of the meets this year with both boats. I wish I would have been able to check it out. It seemed to run pretty good. Your old man's moving already?? Must not like the area to much!! Were is he looking now?

The heads were from Marty G. Actually my dad still lives in Nevada and is trying to move out to Havasu for good. It is a shame about my uncles, the boat was starting to come around 137@ 7.47 at the nationals last year. We will be out the second have of the season with my dads boat.

Right on. Hopes to see you guys out. Sounds like your uncles boat was running pretty good. I guess my dads partner (my uncle) ended up getting those heads. Don't know if he will ever use them though!! He talks about building his new boat but I've heard that story for years.
