Taken the wife and kids to Tahoe. Leaving tonight. We've rented a house on the lake for a week. If anyone can give some good advice on what to look out for, where Angry Johnny likes to hang, what to see, what not to see, etc, I would really appreciate it. How's Zephyr Cove for little jets with about a 1' of freeboard? I have only been up there in the winter to ski and board and never paid much attention to the lake. The house is supposed to be equipped with a dock and a boathouse, so I'd like to bring the little pile along with us. here's a pic of her.

Garrett,
You're 25 minutes from my house. Douglas County Sheriff has a boat "stationed" at Zephyr Cove. Deputies Rice & Hill. Both are very cool. This is the best time of the year for boating, warm temps, just watch the afternoon winds. Are you staying at Zephyr Cove Lodge?

As an afterthought, the Lake is pretty low, making for good beaches, but hidden water hazards. Get you a map. Some of the bays used to have piers. The pilons that have long rotted off, are close to the surface. Especially at Glenbrook Bay.

Right on Eric. Thanks for the info. I'm bringin my little Garmin GPS in case I get lost. Not sure where exactly we are staying. The wife set it all up and has the 411 on where we'll be. All I know we've rented a house on the lake in Zephyr Cove. I'll be bringing my lap top with me (I can't escape work) which has a wireless modem, so I'll post where we are once I get there.
Thanks again,
Gerrit

I would pull the boat at at night as well. My other 1/2 has a cabin on the water in meeks Bay and the last time I was up there I had to save some boats from getting swamped. When the wind kicks up it can get nasty.

A couple of things to do while you're there.
Have breakfast at the restaurant right in Zephyr Cove and drive over to Incline to eat at MoFo's pizza, both are real good eating places. The other thing is to eat at the buffet at the top of Harrah's, it's real good too.
Why? cuz it's all about the food! :D
Tahoe, this time of year is great! We used to have a townhouse in Incline and loved going up right when schools were starting to go back, less people.

Tahoe is great this time of year. The water is low this year so keep your eyes peeled for "land mines". The lake can get real rough in a hurry so keep your eyes on the wind/weather. Check out Emerald bay and Vikingsholm by bout if you get a chance. They're worth it.

Also think about Jake's on the lake! If your eating out. One of the best Filet’s I have ever had was at Jake’s & it has a great view to boot!

Thanks for all the info. I appreciate it. I'll definitely check out some of these places. I'll be leaving in a few hrs and be there all week. So, if anyone else is gonna be there, let's have a coolie. Coming back Friday morning and heading strait out to the river in Blythe for Labor Day weekend. Yeah Now!

Alright, I made it, I'm here, I'm buzzed and I just wabted to say, this isn't a lake. It's a freaken Ocean! None the less, it's awesome here. Can't wait to launch tomorrow. Couple ?s though. The Ocean is a little low for me to use the boat house. So, where can I drop achor for the day? It looks alittle full in the cove. Where can I launch? Who has the best Craps tables? Where's Steve Wynns house? I want to roost his dock.
Thanx
I am fitshaced!

Gerrit,
Go north on hwy 50 about 3 miles to Cave Rock landing, if you don't get there early, you'll be S.O.L. for parking, as there is only 40 or 50 parking spaces. Best bet would have somebody drive your rig back to your cabin. Remember to do your boating in the morning or late afternoon when there's no wind. It always seems to start blowing around 1 or 2. Also if you get tired of the casinos, go to "Steamers" in Kings Beach (north shore) They have Sierra Nevada on draught, an outside bar on the beach and awesome pizza.

He sure did. But that's not why I don't like him. He funded a bogus research team to tump up some Facts about how two strokes were polluting the water in Tahoe. He thought we was doing everyone a favor by getting PWC's banned but what he also did was screw the O/Bs along with em. It's my opinion that people like him opened the door for these Blue Water col eviros and the like to start picking on all power boats. Now these groups are concerned about Carbon Dioxide (you know that fizz in your beer). Paahleease! That means that big blocks are going to be their next target.
The funny thing about the crappy research findings that the governing body of Lake Tahoe came up with was that two strokes were polluting the water with MTBE. Then why didn't they ban MTBE from the area? Oh, that would make sense. Government and enviro groups NEVER make sense. Much less protect the earth.
Steve Wynn makes love to flaming homo lion tamers. F him!
