Thinking about buying a Donzi 22ZX. We live on a larger lake (22 miles) that gets some wind. "The boss" wants a soft ride and I want some performance. Want to keep in the 22 foot range and that Donzi hull looks perfect, bot I've never ridden in one.

Here's my take on your question,I had a 28' Donzi last year, what a nice boat, loved it,moved up in size and twin engines,,,,, spend the extra money and get the 28' you'll be glad you did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bigger the better, however a 22 ZX Donzi with a supercharger is a sweet deal. I know someone with one ,he's very happy with it for lake use, cause he keeps it at Cultus Lake [similar in size you described].That lake can get some nasty weather and his boat is very suitable for it.If you live in close vicinity of the ocean, get a bigger boat.

Not to knock another boat but to offer a suggestion, Try a Cobalt 226. It's 22'8" and a great handling and the softest riding 22-23 I know about.
Can come with up to a 425 hp/496/ 8.1 Merc or Volvo.
