For the one or two of you who ARE NOT going to the river for Labor Day weekend, the dead fish are gone from Lake Elsinore. I'll be out there every day keeping the lake as safe as possible :D

Unfortunately I'll be in town this weekend, what is Elsinore like on a holiday weekend. Is it even worth trying to put the boat on or is it just too croweded?

It's a natural lake. It fills up on years with major rain...enough to overflow Railroad Canyon Dam (Canyon Lake). Holiday weekends are busy and lake lice are heavy, but Saturday first half of day shouldn't be too crowded.

Is there a number we can call to find out current conditions of the lake?

Warm temperatures in summer, low lake level, lots of algae, all combine to create a reduced level of disolved oxygen in the water. Every few years, a percentage of the millions of fish die off when this occurs.

Weedeaters could do it too (if they didn't asphyxiate the fish first).

I live 2 blocks from the lake and I love it out there, especially at about sun down driving into the sunset haulin balls. I just cant deal with the Sea Doos on a holidal weekend so im hiding out at LOST LAKE. I drive a red and black Bahner and good friends with Officer Gibson. So have a good weekend and ticket the shit out of those un-educated gangster, drunks on sea doos and let the good guys have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whenever I see the pic of dead fish in the Press Enterprise, I just can't help thinking of the "Bass-o-matic".

They netted about 60 tons of live carp over the spring....and in 2 days last week 80 more tons floated up dead :( and I still see folks fishing from shore at the other end of the lake every day!

Yes, the fish are gone but so are the docks at Marina West. Was there today (Thursday) and all three docks were pulled up the ramp. Whats going on? Are we supposed to roll them in before we launch? Going back tomarrow to check again...

burtandnancy,
Can you guys give us a report on the condition of the water? I'm sure it's still green, but are there fish scales and leftovers?
Thanks

Green as pea soup, but no fish, very little smell but lots of flys. Also, I dinged my props going from the launch ramp to the lake, end of testing for now. On to lake mead in the back up boat...
ps, the docks were back in the water
