We are heading to havasu next Saturday, and I am looking for the best way to get there. If the 40 is still down to one lane, is the 10 a better route. Thanks

Just pulled off the Cal Trans Web site "Constuction on interstate 40 due to be complete in September 2010"
Ok maybe not exactly from their website but it sure feels that way. Yes it is still under construction. Take the 10 to ehrenberg/95. Thats the way I am headed tonight.

220EagleXp, I drove up to Havasu Thursday and although I hate the road construction  it wasn't all that bad, gave me a chance to check my rpm's at 40,41,45,47,51 and 55mph for 23 miles eek! , seriously not all that bad. lol

I live in the San Gabriel Valley. FWIW, taking the 10 thru Blight and into Urineberg and up to Parker is 12 miles further than the 15/40 route. So, until Caltrans reverses their rectal cranial insertion and finishes the 40 AND the work on the 15, I will be taking the 10.
Intereting, kind of on topic, was watching a show this week about big construction machines and they talked about a concrete paver. Well, it looked almost exactly like the one they are using on the 40. According to the show those machines can pour 1 mile of concret PER DAY! What does all this mean you ask??? WHYTF is it taking CALTRANS over a GD YEAR to fix 22 EFF'N miles of road!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

HD, they want all of us to see where all of our money is going (maximun exposure)When I drove through Thursday they only seemed to be working on a 3 mile section but there was a sh&* load of Workers (people taking naps) around the temporary concrete plant. Our tax dollars at work

I 40 just outside of Ludlow becomes one lane each way on the same side of the fwy. Can cause over 1 hour delay if they stop traffic.

You can skip the road construction on the 40 if you exit at Ludlow and take 66 to Amboy & then Essex. This brings you back to the 40 around Goffs Rd. According to the maps its 9 miles longer but definitely worth it if the traffic is bad.

The road is pretty rough as you leave Ludlow for about 5 miles - major potholes and chucks of assphalt, but after that it is great. And watch for the "Dip" signs as they mean it! RR crossings can be rough too.

If you take the Ludlow off ramp, a right, then quick left your on old 66. Stay on this, it will take you to Mountian Springs Road. One more hill and it's downhill to Needles. The road is rough the first 4 or 5 miles, but smooth after that.
