I know it is early to be talking about Christmas.......but here in Tempe they have a killer parade of lights on Tempe Town Lake, the only time of the year that any Gasoline powered boats are allowed on it. The grand prize is 1K and I think that I have an idea that could win. Get one of you big boat guys to do your rig up like a sleigh, and a bunch of us little hot rods could be decked out as the reindeer, all tied together w/ropes and lights. Could be bitchin if done right, any of you Phoenix peeps down??????? To do it right we would definately need to start planning pretty quick. Just an idea...

That sounds like a cool idea. I've got an 18 ft Brendella jet, I'm in. Any idea on entry fees?

My buddy is on the asu rowing team. The lake is over 6 ft deep because he fell in and couldn't stand. I remember hearing it is around 10ft. Should have plenty of prop clearance nordic. :D

Last year was awesome. Some pretty high dollar boats there. There is no entry fee, and I think that if we are all attached in some way or another we can call it one "float." Split the prize and buy beer (or I suppose egg nog!) or just have a hell of a party. I also suppose that we could co the christmas thing and donate it to charity (Hot Boat article here we come!) The top honors last year went to a fairly un-interesting rig and second went to a canoe!! I have a ton of lights and associated shizzle. We would however need to start planning this fairly soon to pull off a multi-rig train I think. We could literally take over the lake with Horsepower!!! PM me for my # and we will start a plan.

The reigns are pretty loose on this event. They won't let you get above a fast idle...i.e. no speed runs. My friends are actually the ones in the canoe that got second last year. They were boozing it up Jimmy Buffet style. What sort of ????? do you have.

There was really big multi engine offshore type rigs there last year. It was really festive x-mas, fun stuff. AV Gas really does smell like the holidays!!!! :D There is a more than adequate launch ramp available for contestants. Any other ? ? ? ?

Hey Skeep, I PMd "Fire on the water" to let him know. You might try a few others that were out at the Bartlett get together.

Would love to attend and meet the AZ Hot Boaters, but I don't think any of the family's 3 boats will be up by then. But it is possible that 1 might be. I'll ask. Still might be there to watch and support.

This sounds like a lot of fun. If somebody is gonna coordinate a Hot Boat entry, please keep me posted! I'd be bringing a noisy Kachina jet and some alcoholic friends. I haven't posted much, but I met Dan Hercules at the river this summer and would be excited to meet some more of the board members.

Project hot boat entry is still a go!
Any ideas?
What kind of lights do you buy?
Powered by a 12v?

Use 12volt inverters. Just have to watch the amp load. Use regular house lights.
