Anyone have any info on Castaic? I need to take someone for a test drive tomorrow! What are the rules out there these days?

I dont have any links but they are VERY strict on ALL your safety gear..ie. Fire extinguisher, life vests for each occupant, throw cushion, and 35MPH..rader enforced.
Be prepared!

Last time we were up there they didn't check us for any safety equiptment, but that was Good Friday and it was cool and windy. I think the Baywatch wanna b's just didn't want to get out and get cold, and as the closing date gets closer i'm not sure they're going to hassle to many folks. Have fun and take all your safety stuff anyway, make sure you have a throw cushion, saves you alot of trouble.

We go regularly and are checked about half the time for equipment.
We anchored at the sand cove in Elizabeth Canyon and in minutes rangers and lifeguards appeared outta the scrubrush siteing anyone in the water (Castaic is a no Body contact lake),, and anyone with an open container of beer.

How can you have a "no contact" lake and allow water skiing? Or jet skis for that matter?

Ross you are talking about casitas not castaic Nope,, Lake Castaic.
Get checked about half the time for; Fire extinguisher, throw cushion (Never checks if it's USCG approved) Vests and registration sticker.
Seems I'm the only guy that's checked for equipment when we go to Pismo Beach to ride too. But thats another story.
Hell,,,, I dunno why me.
No contact lake means no swimming.
Jet Skis (water lice), and tubin' and wakeboarding' aren't considered water contact.
The new Diamond Valley Lake is no contact by the way.
One loaded diaper and the bacteria counts skyrocket off the scale is the reasoning.
Most the So Cali lakes are drinking water,, Pyramid catches the water from Castaic when they reverse the polarty of the generators at Castaic Generating Station and pump the water up from Castaic during non peak electricity load times,, then release the water to spin the generators and return back to Castaic during high electricity load demands. Then the water is sent on to be treated and consumers by thirsty Angelinos, that is,, if the bacteria counts are correct.
A human taking a dump in it is a zillion times worse that fish poop. But thats another story.
