March Letter From WWW.BOATRACINGFACTS.COM
Spring is about to SPRING. The Bakerfield 45 SS Sprint Nationals are behind us. 12 45 made the race....Chad Hill was second, but really the weekend BELONGED to everyone.
I felt that Lake Ming never had that many boats ever. In the OLD DAYS when we had hundreds of little outboards, maybe. But I felt there were 200 total entries for the weekend.....14 Crackers, 14 Pro Comps, 10-12 Super Stocks..., Personal Water Craft, Nostalgia Flats and Endurance and GN's...Jets, little hydros, and 45 SS tunnels...Something for everyone and plenty of great racing.
The boat count was great, but the motorhome count was higher. I saw many families and friends having a good time. It was amazing.
More than 20 people told me they thought www.boatracingfacts.com was a great web page. I saw friends I had not seen in years. Again, I'll say, BRF is your TOOL to grow Boat Racing, "WE STILL HAVE A SPORT TO SAVE". Tell your friends to join BRF and see what is going on.
I saw ALL the drivers drive like GENTLEMEN...Keep that spirit ALIVE.
Bill Boyes, Region 11 Chairman and I are going to Alexanderia, Louisiana for the Kneeldown Winter Nationals, we are delivering a boat to Iowa on the way, and bring back a 45 tunnel and a Fat C tunnel, plus Neal Baum's 125 runabout...
I really plan this Mini Enduro...See if you'd like to be a sponsor for $100...This will be a GRASS ROOTS races for up to any three cyclinder motor...
The rules are just about finalized for the 2006 Blue Water Casino 300 Enduro, so plan to race something there...
After my last month's letter, I received about 150 e-mails...Thanks, but next time post your e-mails for all to see, many of you, in fact, most had great things to say.
We have about 9 new people lined up to race Fat C...three BRAND new boats are being built and there seems to be a few heavy weights that want to run at Top of Michigan Marathon. Top has said, "If we get six boats we can run."
I'm taking a Super Light Tunnel to Vic Brinkman, when we go to the Winter nationals...He says it is to play on his lake, but I think he's going to run it at Top of Michigan...
Region 11 had a Play day at Lake XXX, 41 people and eight boats showed up...I had a ride in a Fat C...I knew it would be fun and it was REALLY fun....
You MEMBERS, don't forget, that this is YOUR WEB PAGE, not just Ted's and mine. We need you to dig out old pictures and old stories....
That Lone Star Boat racing Reunion was amazing..200..maybe 300 people. Iwas so glad I made the 4,000 mile trip..I did go through Oklahoma City, not really on the way....But saw Tom Woods Boat City Prop Shop and bought a polishing machine like he has. (I saw it in action)...
Sam Cullis can help you post pictures if you are having trouble....or do like Pete DeLackner is doing, he's going to Junior College to learn how to trun on his computer...
Keep posing and visiting the web page often... We get about 6,000 unique hits a month, these are first time viewers. In the summer I get a hundred e-mails a week for propellers for boat with less than 75 HP......So, I know there is NEED and interest in GRASS ROOTS RACING...
Show up at the races...say hello, hang out, help out get a FAT C and RACE...
The people are what had made boat racing what it is, if you want to see it better, help out in anyway you can. As I said before, we don't need new drivers to beat....Help mentor the newbies....
Well, I'm leaving with Bill Boyes, tomorrow, 3/16 for Debuque, Iowa. then to Louisiana...We'll try to post along the way!!!
See you at the races....
Ron Hill

P.S. If any of you still don't have my new email adress it is prop19@sbcglobal.net NOT ronhill@speakeasy.net anymore.

Hello all,
Long time no talk, Bakersfield had a great turnout of Nostalgia boats, in fact all boats for that matter. I personally didn't race, but I was out in the Patrol boat! The Nostalgia Jet class debut at Bakersfield, and even thought they only had 3 boats, they looked good, and strong potential for class growth. If any body knows of any drivers possibly interested in competeting in this class contact Jim Rich, jrpm@npgcable.com. I will be attending the SCSC meeting this coming Weds. the 29th and they will be asking me for a boat count for Parker this April, so please reply with your name, class(s), and days racing. As always, anybody can attend these meetings, but if you can not, and would like me to forward any questions and/or concerns please let me know, I will be happy to do so. A few of our drivers have decided to play a little with the "Big Dogs" Jim Best & Bart Cromwell raced in the GN class at Bakersfield, Shane Hall & Dave Chandler raced in the Pro Stock class at Bakersfield. All did very well, and showed everybody that even thou us Nostalgia guys are limited in speed, we ain't limited in talent!!
I will have the official Nostalgia points results from Bakersfield for you all soon, I have been slacking, sorry, me bad!
CBR would like to thank Don Baca for stepping up with sponsorship. Triad Performance Marine is offering possible Heat Racing prizes for the Nostalgia Comp Jet Class. This is the kind of support that racing needs. There are a few details that we need to work out but Triad Performance Marine is commited to saving the sport of boat racing.
Thank you
