This was my first regatta, and I gotta say that it was really awesome!!!
There were ~105 LaveyCraft in attendance! The Fiesta Hotel & Casino in Henderson was the host hotel and Lake Mead was the venue.
We arrived @~7:45pm Friday night and went straight to the pizza social & regatta check-in. Met up with all my fellow lavey owning friends - Waterndog, LaveyBob, Sunburners, WildLavey, Nextasex, and several others not on the boards. Got my new Lavey T-Shirts! Saw one of the new Lavey hats matches my boat (white w/ red/orange flames), but was sad to find that they had sold out! Oh-well, I'll get one from the next batch!
EARLY Saturday morning we went out to the Lake. Skipping breakfast, we stopped only to top off the boat's fuel tanks. Launching and parking were not a problem. Running in a group of three (me, waterndog, & Laveybob) we found the regatta cove, set up our beach and then headed to the meeting spot for the aerial photo and poker run start.
It was a long fast run up to the cove just past the narrows. We had Lavey's newest model leading the way. The new 2750 Poker Run addition made it's debut at the Regatta. Beautiful boat!!! It's their 2750 race bottom with a light lay-up, vacuum bagged balsa core (no wood, not even in the tansom), no interior under the front deck, and very secure seating for 5. Seats wrap around you, and have grab handles and foot rests for all on board. This boat is powered by a Merc525!!! By the end of the day I had begged enough to be given a ride on this awesome boat. It was great!! 70-80mph cruise and stable in all conditions encountered! I'll get some photos and do a full write up on rivertoys.com in the near future....back to the regatta...
The floatilla for the photo shoot was huge. The helo, with our old friend and former Hot Boat webmaster, Eric Anderson on board, made several passes over the cheering crowd. http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/51laveyreg3.jpg

Straight off we went into the poker run....run - not race! LOL. Great fun and fast boating down to Hoover Dam and eventually back to the cove for Lunch. Lavey had their race truck waiting for us & LOTS of Carni, Chicken, Burgers, & Hot Dogs on the grill!!!

We lunched and they had some fun games for the family to participate in. They also counted up our poker hands....I was one card short of a flush, which means I had nothing and would not be getting any of the $5,000 purse! :( :D
It was an awesome day for family boating.

The RTJas Family!
100 degree temps and no wind made for a great day on the water.
By evening we were all beat and sleepy from an early start and long day. Didn't stop a few of us from sitting in the boat, in the parking lot of the hotel, and listening to the stereo while downing beers and jello shots - until after mid-night.... :D
Sunday morning was the group Brunch and awards/raffle time.
We had the entire buffet just for our group!
There were a record number of first time, new Lavey owners attending the regatta. 24 of us in all (I am one). They called each of us up by name and gave us a bottle of champain! NICE!!!
They gave away some general awards, and and $5,000 poker purse.
WildLavey won best gel!!! (DUH)
In the raffle I won $100 @ IMPCO, an IMPCO soft cooler and several other useful things. Including a water balloon launcher.
Waterndog & LaveyBob won wake boards and some other great things.
WildLavey also won water skis, in addition to his Best Gel prize.
The family had fun, and we are all proud to be part of such a great boating family!!!
It should be mentioned that Lavey is one of the few builders who handles their own Regatta. It's entirely put together by the owners of LaveyCraft and their family and friends. The whole event really has a family feel!!!
RTJas <-Made the right choice in buying a LaveyCraft!!!!
