I was just wondering if you can help me out. If someone is over 18 can they drive a boat without a license? What if their CA licsense is suspended? Thanks in advance.
Tom

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I was at a LE Conference in Laughlin. Discussing (what else?) Boating Enforcement.
No license is required to operate a boat in Arizona or California. Period.
Doesn't matter if your drivers license is suspended 20 times over. It don't matter.
HOWEVER! (There's always a catch.) California ties boating violations to points on drivers licenses. Especially OUIs. If caught (by California) driving a boat while drunk, and your driver's license is already suspended for a previous DUI or OUI, you could be facing a long time in the grey bar hotel, mucho fines, and the license can be suspended for an additional 5 years. (On top of whatever time it's already suspended for.)
Happy Boating!

Thank you Alan. I appreciate it. My son WILL NOT be drinking at all when on my boat and driving. At least he can drink legally when he is 21 but will not be driving my boat.
