Here's some action from the Ottawa, Ill drags.
Detroit Jim made a great show running 122 mph in the short course. Jim ran so fast that he got himself stuck in the open class.
Jim was running carburated blown gas against injected blown alcohol boats. Great tuning Jim.

Here's a video of Jim running the Chicago bullet.

A Michigan Hot Boats club member, Ray Wahler, won the open class. Here's a video of Ray running top fuel driver John Haas.

Jet boats won the two fastest classes.

I take it the event was only one day long this year?! I was under the impression that classes were set yesterday and the races were today (Sunday)! Looks like I missed out on the action!
Unchained - Did you run?

Yeah they ran the whole event in one day.
No, I didn't run, I wasn't confident that I had everything just right yet.
If I went to the race and didn't make a real good showing then every one would say " See that, turbocharging's no good"
It was a bummer seeing all the fun and not participating.

I'm always glad for a chance to run my boat, but without clocks the Ottawa deal is kinda shady. It was rough as hell on the big end, rollers everywhere. They used a rolling start toward the xmas tree with a guy giving the green. I think I got holeshotted first round, if there were clocks he would have redlighted. And the guys sitting in the boat with radar guns at the finish line, you couldn't get me out there. It was fun though, I think I can get this boat into the sevens on gas and carbs, that would be something.

Did you guys see a white and green placecraft with an injected big block at those races? I know john and heard he was there. Jim,you did a great job! I would love to hear more details of you setup. Is your pump set back. I think we conversed on the boards before, maybe regarding edelbrock carbs?? I have been following unchaineds awesome build up, from the get go.I have been working up to 60 hrs per week and can't enjoy the summer like my friends. That said, I installed my blown 572 into the 19ft centrion.I have had it out a total of 4 times.I am till dialing it in and appreciate your advise.I hope to run more freqent as summer slips away.I will call Unchained for a few tips and ask for your input. Thanks, Chris
