General Overview
Raystown Lake is a 29,000 acre project with 12 public access areas, a 8,000 acre lake, picnic areas, beaches, boat launches, campgrounds, trails, hunting, fishing, marina concession stands and is operated and maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers.
Raystown Country offers an excellent opportunity for boating at Raystown Lake. There are no restrictions of horsepower or boat size on the lake. And although the largest privately owned boat is a 70 ft, you will see canoes, jet skis, small fishing boats and even inner tubes on the lake.
While boating on the lake, please be safe. Although there is no horsepower limit, there are many coves and inlets that are designated as "no wake" areas, where you can go to enjoy a peaceful float.

The lodge is probably one of the best places to stay. There might be something outside of town, but out here, you're not going to find the Taj Mahal. Altoona is probably the closest.

I'm looking at making a last summer blast sometime after Labor Day weekend, before I have to put her away for the winter.

For us it would be 200 miles shorter. 5 hours instead of 8 1/2....

We always wanted to go to Raystown lake, but never got the chance. Was out there 15 years ago, before we had a boat, and thought the lake was awesome. The wife wants to go. So were interested. Hey Hammer, sounds like it's time for a convoy!
