Im going to plan on Owasco Lake. If you guys look on a map you will see Auburn N.Y. Owasco Lake is just south of Auburn. This is also 30 miles West of Syracuse.
How many of you guys would do the camping thing? There is a State Campground at the south end of the Lake. The only problem is the sand beach is at the other end of the Lake. The Beach is huge. You can walk out like a 1/2 mile and its like 5 ft deep. The Lake is around 18 miles long. I have run my Stevens from one end to the other and back. It will just depend on the wind.
Next will be what weekend is Best? Im pretty much open. I will take off the Friday before.
Id also like to do a BBQ. Just like we did at Anna or Havre De Grace. Just everybody bring something. I want this to just be a relaxing weekend.
I will try to check into the Motel thing.

The campground Im thinking of is called Fillmore Glen State Park. This is located in Moravia NY. This is about 5 minutes from the boat launch.

The campground has some big spaces. It shouldn't be a problem.

Stacey and I will be there if the date works for us (adoption thingy), shouldn't be a problem as far as I can see, but that's me assuming things again. Camping sounds like fun as well.

While you are thinking about a date, the Rochester Offshore Powerboat Association is hosting a Poker Run on Seneca Lake on July 19. Check HERE (http://rochesteroffshore.com) for more info. Usually about 75 boats from 20 to 40 feet.

What kind of a boat do you have? That sounds like a great trip.

Now that is funny. We stay in the new cottage in the back corner of the bay behind the island. Its a yellow camp. It was new about 10 years ago.
I have looked into buying a peice of property a few times. It always seams if we find the right place its sold before we find out about it.

hey dan :) this is our plan.so far theres 9 boats going.. :) :) :) :) ....................................Day 1--Sat 19 July--depart Ithica run the length of Cayuga lake and throught the canal to Lake Onagonda Lake, overnight there. Approx 45 miles and 4 hours travel time.
Day 2--Sun 20 July-- depart Onagonda, through Oneida Lake and stopping at Rome. Approx 60 miles-5-6 hours travel time.
Day 3-- Monday 21 July-- Depart Rome to St. Johnsonville for the night, Approx 65-70 miles 6-7 hours.
Day 4-- Tuesday 22 July-- depart St Johnsonville to Schenectady for the night, Approx 55-60 hours, 5.5 -6 hours.
Day 5-- Wed 23 July-- depart Schenectady to Troy, according to the chart the Waterford locks take about 2 hours so given that it would take about 5 hours for only 22 miles. If we get through the locks faster we can go on to Albany or even a little further south on the Hudson.
Day 6-- Thursday 24 July-- on to NYC if it is about 6 hours from Troy we can get an early start and arrive late afternoon or early evening.
Spend Day 7(Friday) and Day 8 (Sat) in NYC and start the trip back on Sunday Morning. With luck we might get through the Waterford locks on Sunday and overnight somewere between there and Schenectady.............wayne :)

DansBlown73Nordic
02-05-2003, 05:59 AM
The dates are July 11th, 12th and 13th. Owasco Lake. This is just south of Auburn N.Y. It is one of the finger lakes.
Lots of sand and a huge beach. Plenty of picnic area.
