This time of year wreaks havoc on my nose! We had a late rain and the weeds are in bloom. I'm too busy to go see my stupid doctor.
Any recommendations for over the counter medicines?

Why don't you do what I do? Take a powerful laxative. I don't have hay fever or constipation. I just enjoy shitting.

Or you could try claratin, if you dont want to wipe your ass all day. Claratin's work for some, not for others. They don't help me or my wife at all. Any other suggestions?

I used to date a girl who got wonderful hay fever relief from one of those portable Honeywell electronic air cleaners. They're a few hundred bucks but worth it if it works. We borrowed one and when we found that it worked we bought one.
She wouldn't go for the laxatives. frown

I tried Claritin and it made it hard to pee without dribbling all over.... :(
Allegra was alright, Hismanol was good but expensive and you couldn't eat for 3 hours, so I had to remember to take it right before bed. And it would wear off in the afternoons.
Our stupid cat wanders through all the weeds, and when he comes in the house he's like a little pollen patch. I"m not allergic to him, just all the dust on his fur. He won't sit still to vacuum him either.
I think Claritin is out in the stores, but pretty pricey still. $1.00 each pill.
Right now I am just taking 1/2 of a Benadryl and it works but still makes me sleepy and slow.

Sorry, I made it sound like the cat was the problem. I get it when I am outside in the yard or if I drive by when someone's cutting the grass, playing golf, or if I am around weeds and grasses. The cat is just an occasional deal.

Zyrtec(12hr pill)and Flonaise(nasal spray). The combo works well. Your Dr. should give you samples of these(to hopefull offset your copay) that will last a few says, plus write script for the pharmacy. Problem solved....Unless you're like me and really need nasal surgery....

Second on the Flonase.
Allavert is the generic of Claritin, takes it down to about .50 per pill. The sinus version of Claritin also does funky stuff on me, the regular is great (mostly eye allergies only).
Doc gave me some new stuff, but am happy with the Flonase/Allavert combo.

Triminicin will do a great job if you can find it.

I had the same prob. Benadryl was about all that would work, but knocked me out... then I found Chlor-Trimeton (sp?) It worked good for years with no drowsyness, until I took it for so long that now it dont do shit.. You might try it.

I find that cough syrup w/codiene really helps you feel better but if that makes you tired then you can take around 5-10mg of adderall (at least 8 hours before bed) to counteract that.

My girlfriend is allergic to my cat and I am really having a hard time thinking about finding a home for her. She has been with me through 4 relationships. Damn.

Smoke a bunch of weed.
That way when someone notices your red, weepy eyes and asks you "Allergies?"
you can say "Yes, I'm allergic to weed."
Good Luck

78Eliminator, At least you know your cat will stick by you. I would keep the cat for an out in case things don't work out for with the new GF for other reasons. Actually I would keep the cat anyway, but I like cats. :D

Air cleaners work well in the home, I know all about indoor air quality. Will try that Flonase deal. Tried it last year and it worked...back to RiteAid...Thanks.. :D :D

I'm surprised Ron Popeil hasn't scaled up his smoke free ashtray and made a sucky kitty device.
