I can understand LV taking down his site since he was po'd about being "censored", and got a 30-day spanking for bitching too long and too hard about it, but why is Liquidaddiction down? I thought that site was Flat Broke's and Hack Job's.

It may have something to do with this?
Believe us when we say we didn't want to be typing this post. We have met many wonderful people by throwing this little get together over the past four years. But all good things come to an end, or at least go on hiatus. Simply put, there will be no CBBB this year because the cost for Tyson and Myself to protect the financial well being of our families is too high. We may have less at risk than some, but neither of us want to find ourselves living with a multi-million dollar judgement over our heads for the rest of our lives.
While watching video footage during editing of the DVD (yes we're still working on it), I couldn't help but shake my head in disbelief over some of the choices that people made in dense traffic situations during last year's Saturday afternoon time frame. After reviewing that footage and losing a number crunching battle trying to cover liability insurance with a modest fee for an attending; we were left facing the fact that we simply can't host another CBBB.
The litigous society we live in all but requires that we carry subtantial liability coverage to protect ourselves. The problem is neither of us have an extra 4-6 thousand dollars to toss out on top of web hosting costs, fronting shirt costs, and all of the incidentals relating to the CBBB. To take it a step further, even if we could find a happy ballance of "participation fee" to insurance costs; once we start collecting money for people to show up, we greatly diminish our ability to wash our hands of the actions of anyone associated with the event, or for that matter, any jackass on any form of craft that happens to run into someone associated with the CBBB. And once a personal injury attorney sees that there is an insurance policy to go after, the first schmuck that stubs his toe on a CBBB patron's boat on the beach will be levying a suit because the attorney knows that the insurance company will settle out. So we're left hanging in the breeze without the insurance, and we become a HUGE target if we get it. Damned if we do, damned if we don't.
Our decision had nothing to do with the Avi vs. other venues. In fact, we had a VERY nice deal lined up at the Bluewater that would have probably blossomed into an ongoing relationship that would have benefited both the CBBB and the Casino. However, I would like to take a moment to remind folks that got turned on to the Avi through the CBBB that the Avi has no love for us, our old boats, or any suggestions that might make their facility more user friendly to boaters in general. Personally, I will never use them for lodging again.
So where do we go from here? Well, for the time being the website will stay up. We feel there is still a void to be filled in terms of providing a great environment for owners of old classics to get together; so feel free to continue to use the boards to keep in touch and let everyone know when you're going to the river. We just can't see any language about people setting up big group trips etc.
Additionally, in light of what is most likely the end of the line for the actual CBBB get togethers, we'd like to change the DVD to encompass all years, not just last year's shindig. So if you've got footage from any of the other years, even if its relatively short, shoot it our way with a description, the year, etc. and we'll swap finished copies to anyone that contributes. Don't worry Wally, we haven't forgot about you
It's been absolutely amazing seeing everyone have such a wonderful time at the previous CBBB's, so of course we're sad to bring things to a close; but when we stop and look back, we started the whole deal for folks to get together and enjoy like minded company. We definitely succeeded in that regard. I know of many groups of people that now regularly hit the water together after meeting at the CBBB. That in and of itself is pretty cool when you stop and think about it.
It's been fun, and we look forward to being able to spend time with all of our friends on the water whenever possible.
Best regards,
Chris and Emily Lloyd & Tyson and soon to be Shannon Lloyd

Cas, that doesn't explain why the Liquidaddiction.net website is down, just their reason for not putting on the CBBB event.

just a connection to liability issues? don't know?
Maybe the host is having issues, the error message has now changed for me.
I was getting the Page not Found and now it's "You are not authorized to view this page"

The CBBB website is still up, so I doubt there is any connection to "liability issues".
I got the "You are not authorized to view this page" notice a couple weeks ago when I tried to look for something on Liquidaddiction.net.

Tyson tipped me off to this thread, so I figgured I'd better chime in before there were stories of a pending law suit, my diagnosis of some rare disease and subsequent death, or something to that effect.
Liquidaddiction is not viewable because I'm in the middle of changing hosting providers for the page, and because I transfered the domain to a different company. The later of the two combined with no longer paying the old hosting company 30 bucks a month = no website for a while.
Anyone who looked at it could see it hadn't been updated in quite some time. I've been too busy with real life and haven't had, or didn't want to spend any time plugging away on a pretty meaningless website. Additionally I got a real bad taste in my mouth when some jackhole on these boards started giving me shit for sharing technical information and insinuating I think I'm better than other people because I share information. With few hits on the page, and everyone seeming to get everything they need from the boards, I figured it'd be no big deal to worry about downtime while I moved over to cheaper hosting and transfered the domain at the same time. Once the domain transfer is complete, I'll have email up and running at that address, and if I get bored one night and want to slap some of the old content back up, I'll FTP it up. Since I made the templates for that site I've learned how to do things faster and more scaleable so it would make little sense putting the same format back up knowing that I will continue not to update it because its a pain in the ass. In the mean time, if anyone needs any of the diagrams or other info off the site, just PM me here and I'll get to it when I can.
On a side note, it trully is ironic that people continually bag on Jer because of his graphs and diatribes on theory and scientic approach to testing; then they complain when they can't download a tool he designed to share with others in the community/hobby. People need to wake up and realize that it's not often you get spoon-fed years of schooling and insight not to mention the time some people spend on some of the contributions to this forum, all for free. Everyone is quick to complain and piss and moan but there are only a handful of folks that continually provide solid content. Slowly but surely those people are getting sick of the same tired BS, and getting gang raped when they say their piece or call something how they see it. Lots of good folks have already stopped contributing here and many of the "new faces" have no idea of the valuable info they will never have the benefit of absorbing.

You sure hit that on the head. People just don't know what they'll miss until it's gone. What amazed me is how in depth some of the different threads would get. It wouldn't be unusual to get a couple hundred responses to what began as a fairly simple question. The more responses there were, the more ideas/theories/possible solutions came about.
I wish I had saved more of those threads than I did!
