I picked this gem up last week from one of my friend's parents. '76 27' Overland. Superdave was making fun of him for his jet "hydro" on Ebay, cool guy nonetheless.
I bought it for 500 bucks, Dodge 440, runs good, 28,000 miles, pretty clean inside, it has been sitting its whole life. Original 17.5 tires are cracked so bad, I can't belive the tires still have air in them. I have been working on it little by little. The DMV bent me over for registration, I got it cheap enough I guess, but I was still hot for awhile. Hopefully you all
will be seeing me in it when the sun comes out for good this season. So what do you guys think? A good buy, or a peice of crap? I got pimp-daddy wheels for it from the wherehouse, I can't wait to put them on. Anybody get deals on tires?

Cool Ride. My grandparents own a similiar one (1977 - 20 footer) with the same Dodge 440 engine. My grandfather and I took that badboy to New Mexico a few years back to do some deer hunting and it ran like a champ. Very strong engine. For $500 you can't go wrong.

$500 tough to beat that, the older units always need a little T.L.C. I have a 86; 34', it is great because you make sure things are taken care of. But at the same time it is not brand new so you are more relaxed. wink

I'm not a fan of the class A's or Mopars for that matter, but I gotta say they built a pretty stout motorhome. Those 440's really pull good in heavy rigs. I think you can make it look respectable by summer.

Looks like a good start to me! Those rims and a custom do it yourself paint job and it will be a pimpin love bus for sure.
And like I said before, I was just picking on the very rare part of that e bay ad. Not the boat it's self.

Dave, just busting your chops there old guy. I said it before, I thought it was a relic anyway. I didn't want the boat either. I was just mentioning that I knew the guy selling it. haha

Great deal....for 5 Franklins you can plant that thing somewhere and make a great weekend getaway. Hell, I've had hotel rooms cost more a night than you paid to own, congrats on a good deal. :D

I'm thinkin some wedge heads,a cross ram manifold and a LARRGE roller cam on that 440 would help.Dual 3" flowmasters with big tube headers might turn some heads too.Imagine pulling up to the launch ramp in a motorhome that sounds like a super stock plymouth!!And a 9" 4000RPM stall converter and shift kit would not only allow you to lift the front wheels off the ground leaving a red light, you could bark second gear too!!Hell, add a shot of Nitrous and you could hit Tommy's on Saturday night and win your 500 bucks back from the import guys!!

So you got the custom tricks already fingered out, wheels, flames, paint, hop up that motor, maybe you could slam it and drop that thing to about 3" off the ground.....
Check those hoses and plastic tanks....water, wastewater, propane, etc. Those things can get pretty brittle. I had my cushions recovered and it made a big and modern looking difference.
For $500.....looks like a bargain. Congrats on the a great deal.

Thanks. I have been checking it over on the weekends when I have time, and when it isn't raining. The next major dealio is to go through the brakes, probably going to put disks on the back. Then onto inside systems. The best part is the interior is already nice, and everything works, even the fan above the bathroom. the shower is total seventies, it even has a small tub/shower combo. Did I mention the generator even runs?

Hey Cole,
Thanks,
Don't you rent motorhomes? I think I talked to you on the phone once. I need some 16" tires. Can you help me with that?

Mandelon is right the gas lines get very brittle and can causes you some big headaches. One thing I did to mine was add headers, made a difference. Sounds cool to at the ramp like they said

Motor mods are on the way, headers being the first
along with 3 inch exhaust. Right now it has a single 2 inch, very pathetic. What were you guys thinking in the 70's? HAHA.
Every peice of hose needs to be replaced. By the looks of it, this baby is original. Including the tires.
Before this one, I had a 20 foot or so 360 Dodge motorhome, with headers and a four barrel it could lift the front tires 6 inches on a bounce. It could get sideways going around a corner. I miss that motorhome.

I would like to see the tires come off the ground and sliding around turns, it would turn heads for sure :D

Not this one, I'm not sure you could put enough power to a class A to smoke tires. I had one before this when I was in high school. I got rid of it a couple of years ago when it was ready for burial. Now that one served a useful life.
