mr salesman has a few 36 volt carts for a OK price(ive been told to get a 48v), but is saying that there isnt that big of a advantage as far as speed or power compared to a 48v....if so why do pep have the 48v then????? would like to hear from peps that have owned either......thanks

tobek if your going to make it faster get a cart that is not a dcs cart(digital control system)it more exspensive to make it go faster and there is a limit with the box.if you get a ez-go let me know i can probaly hook you up with parts at 40 percent off.

WOW...40% off thats sweet! but is a 36v EZGO a bad thing  for just basic cruising does one need a 48v?

Hey Toby, mine is a 48v. I really don't know how much faster it is than a 36, but it does pretty well. I'm bringing it out to Hidden Shores on Sunday afternoon...if you're there then you're welcome to take a test drive. My temporary site is C96.
Bill :p

:D a 36v willwork just fine, I work in san bernardino county selling forklifts, par cars etc. and a 48v battery will not make much if any difference in speed.
hope that helped

Being as this has come up my father in law is a toy builder. He is 83 and really shows no signs of slowing down yet. He wants to build a golf cart with a 360 yamaha that he has. We have been looking all over for an old frame but are unable to locate one. I am told the old gas powered ones are hard to come by well at least cheap ones are. if anyone can help please let me know. Thanks...V-drive

I run a 98 EZ-GO lifted 36v at the Islander in LHC. Its runs all weekend long on a charge. It does 13.8 on GPS. Not a rocket but does the job. As for Gas we cannot us them after 10:00pm. See lots of gas carts in other parks They seem to haul ass. :D

Here is a pic of my 1998 48v yamaha. I can go all day on a charge and my batteries are original. Once I change them out (this year) I'll probably be able to go all weekend. The 48 volt is no faster than 36v.

Toby, buy the 36 volt cart, change the controller and motor to a 48 volt set-up, actally pretty cheap, paint the cart yourself done for around 3,000 or cheaper.

MAYBE A DUMB QUESTION....BUT IF A 48V ISNT ANY FASTER WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE?

THe 48 volt set up will run faster with more power, but it really depends on your controller/motor combination, if all your looking for is speed they make big motors for a 36v set-up. I have a 48 volt 600 amp controller with a 10 hp motor. my cart will pull my mach 22 in and out of my spot no problem. If you really want speed buy a brand new 2003 ez-go with the two speed rear-end. :D

Call victor and tell him you want an 98 or newer cart with the 36 volt set-up. The upgrades are easy and can be done anytime. You might not even want to change over. I forget the web-sites but there are a few where you can order your own stuff, but victor will be the cheapest way to go.

I'm leaning towards electric, seems like the bottom end, trouble free (hassel free), and over all lower cost of repairs is better.

are you going to lift your cart? whats the diff between DSC and PDS. I was told not to get DSC if a lift was coming. Victor @ Escondido golfcar center buffed me out (I think!) 98 EZGO, pulling off the DSC system. Lifting, new seats, wheels tires, ect... Very good guy, very helpfull. I would refer everybody to them.
