of all the companies that build boats which one if any would you consider #1 as harley is to motorcycles you may have another preference but only one bike holds there value and if you watched there stock there is no compititon

To be a Harley it would have to look good, be somewhat low profile, not too fast, somewhat heavy, and sound good. I'd say any of the better 1970's style, big block daycruisers ought to fit the aquatic harley bill about right.

A little off track but, wouldn't you know it, there was a boatbuilder in florida who built boats with that name. They built boats with kevlar, up to 42 feet and claimed high speeds with standard power  .The name didn't seem to help [don't know if they still build them] like it does for the bikes though.

This might be a dumb question, but it seems I remember seeing a "Corvette" boat awhile back. Not too impressive and havent seen one since? Did I imagine it or what!

Pretty much the same feeling as Dave...Schiada..classic lines and colors; not too much updating...with the exception of some weird shit they have been doing with Air Brush on their newer bigger boats...Birds in Gel..what? eek!

Her454, that corvette boat [all red with matching trailer that was equipped with corvette tail lights] ended up in penticton b.c , in the hand of Stan Kurtz [boat dealer for scarabs ,bajas and mirages],who sadly ended his life shortly decapitating himself at the pier on okanagan lake in penticton.

Harley Davidson bought the Tomahawk Boat Works in the early sixties, convinced they could benefit from the boat company's fiberglass expertise. For one or two years only, they built Tomahawk boats with the Harley-Davidson name included in the logo. Today, the Tomahawk, WI Harley-Davidson plant handles most of the paint and graphics work for Harley, and the only other example of this boat we know of is in the Harley archives.

Last year one of the ski boat builders (I think it was Malibu) was building a ski boat with the corvette name and vette styled tail lights. It's not too bad looking, but it's not up to the vett name. Don't know if they still build them this year.

Either way, when you mention a Harley, that guy gets a dreamy look in his eye and says, "Yah, a Harley". Same equation in boating = Howard or Hallett.

It must be something to this Harley-Daycruiser connection, Ive had several Harleys and 2 Howard Daycruisers. Still got the daycruiser: Heavy-yes, loud-yes, slow-not really.

The reason for the wild Schiada air brush you are talking about, is the guy who ordered it lived in Kuwait, and specifically had that design drawn out. If your a Kuwaitee, you'd love it, lol. oh yeah, the boat was air shipped direct to Kuwait.

The Malibu Corvette had the Cosworth aluminum engine like the Corvettes were offering . The engine was built by Mercruiser, but didn't offer enough power advantages over the HO 350 to justify the added cost.

I used to have an old pan head w/rigid frame...I am thinking that would be about the same as an older v-drive flattie..
A shovel head (solid motor mounts, early shock suspension)might be comperable to an older Sleekcraft or a Campbell...
A new EVO softail...Gotta be a DCB Extreme with a 575efi.

Noway... The Harley of boats is nothing other than Campbell Boats...First nice Daycruiser. It was way before its time, or actually right on time. Campbell was one of the first boat builders to make Havasu what it is. No doubt Campbell is it! http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/842003_Cheetah_1-thumb.jpg

I think it depends what "types" of boats we are talking about. West coast customs, offshore...
I am a little partial, but I would have to say this for offshore...

They are professional ski boats Malibu Corvette- now we are getting to the brunt of my knowledge. There can't be too many out there. I know they only built 125 in 1997 (original year). I think there were like 110 Red ones, 8 polo green ones, 7 white ones. These were and still are bad ass boats. I actually was looking to buy one a little while ago, but instead I bought a house. The Engine was a 383 Calloway that produced over 400 HP. I have heard top speed GPS is between 56-60 Mph. That fast in a 20' direct drive ski boat- damn.
I am a huge fan of Malibu and this limited edition project, which ended in 2000. I'm not sure of the total number out there, but I don't think they held their value like Malibu wanted. They were 50K+ new, and now they are between 27-34K. I'd still buy one.

Probably Campbell for West coast lake boats. You beat me to it...I would say Schiada for a river boat and Cigarette for an offshore boat. Overall, Cigarette may be more similar to Harley than anyone else..Look at their merchandising, image, etc etc etc...

Both companies have had similar problems with it changing owners as well, but the image of the product has always remained the same.

I might take you up on that. At that price, I may be ready to purchase a boat sooner than I thought. I think that boat would definately turns some heads around Havasu- not as much as a DCB F34, but close :D

Thats the boat I remember seeing. Looked nice in the water but just didnt impress me much. I assumed back then the price would be way up there since it was sporting the "Corvette" name.

Her454 , the corvette boat I'm talking about was a PERFORMANCE boat ,not a skiboat. Stan wouldn't even sit in a skiboat :D with all the serious hardware he had around. He bought the very boat that was featured in the mag .When I have time I'll try to find the article and post pictures of the boat. That boat was featured in powerboat magazine at least 6-7 years ago.The skiboat guys are just copycats :p .

I remember in 1991, Baja came out with the 223 Baja Bandit which had a 502, was base Red with Black accents and the design had a lot of curves to it. They only made it for a year or two, but the all red version was towed by Red Corvette in the Magazine add, and they might have had the Corvette lights on the trailer...maybe that is the boat...
