Thor, one of my best friends is a Ford dealership tech. Either post the question or send me a PM and I will pass it along to him.

Okay, here you go.
I have recently been seeing my little red battery light appear at high rpms, roughly 3200 and higher. I am in fear that when I pull my boat in the upcoming summer this light will be a problem as I am in and out of the rpms.
Why does this come on?
thanks

Sounds a lot like an alternator on its way out. As brushes wear, spring tension decreases and pressure of brushes against slip rings decreases. At higher speeds it makes it almost impossible to make good contact. This is a common type of failure in all alternators, not just Ford. I will pass this to my friend just in case Ford has a specific problem that may differ from the above.

I have a Lincoln Navigator (same thing as the Expedition). I had the battery light come on when I got over 4000rpms. OldSquirt is right, it is the alternator on it's way to the shitter. I was able to replace mine and the belt myself for about $150. Definitely worth doing it yourself. Get the parts at any AutoZone.

I have 109,000 on my Navigator. The alternator took a shit at about 105,000.
However, that's the only thing I've ever had wrong with it. (KNOCK ON WOOD). :D

Mine went out at about 75K on the F150, and again at 90K. First time probably caused by a little :D mud :D hole :D
