I went there once a number of years ago, It was pretty cool, sort of lets the air out of the show though, the whole place is just sets! No real buildings. Still pretty cool though.
Up the road a-ways was a really cool town, I cant remember the name, it was an old silver mining boom town from the 1800's. Still alive as a tourist spot, has the O.G. main street, with the requisite saloons, wooden sidewalks etc...we spent the entire afternoon trippin' around the town. More fun than the Ponderosa.

Virginia City maybe? I've never been but I heard its a blast. Looking for a good restaurant around there also.

1 Step, are you talking about Carson City, NV? Nah, we went through Carson City, although it looked like a ghost town, we drove a while through the hills to an even more desolate place.
I'll think of it in a minute...

Hi Gal The
Ponderosa is up just off of Lake Tahoe, south east end on the circle drive around the lake. an emplyee got married there a couple of mounths ago [He has a 40,000 acre ranch himself can you imagine that] They have a good bar and a couple of shops A special place to eat is in Carson city it's on the main street called Adels. They are in an old house that just has a sign "Bar" If you try it you will know why they don't need a sign.

Go to the bar in the Ponderosa and get a beer served in a souvenir tin cup, fun place to relax on vacation not a lot there, real simple.
Have not been there in more years than I can remember, eek!

Nevada City, Carson and Rough and Ready are all
good locations to visit. My wife graduated from high school in Nevada City....nice place.
Lots of Frisco folks have moved to the area to get away from city life which created quite a increase in population (and prices) in the 90'S
enjoy,
Rat

Hi Gal The
Ponderosa is up just off of Lake Tahoe, south east end on the circle drive around the lake. I think it's actully on the NORTH east area of the lake. Up by Incline Village. Several ski areas if you're there in the winter and the casinos are a little more laid back than the south shore. We vacationed at a condo for several years just up the street from the Hyatt (or was it a Hilton?)
