I was just talking to Doug about it. Usually when his site is down, there are half a dozen others down too, and most of them seem to be up. Hopefully it comes back soon. I'd hate to have to find a more reliable place to hang out (Kwicherbichen.com (http://Kwicherbichen.com)) :D

Anyone else having trouble with Doug's this morning? Yes, it's been up and down all morning since around 4:00 am that I know of. We'll see what happened when it comes back up. I know that Doug was on the HB forum this morning but I haven't gotten a reply yet to a PM...He must be working on it.

This is unbelievable. I just got home from work to find that my site has been down ALL DAY! It was actually down when I got up this morning at 6 AM so I opened up a support ticket. Now I get home 12 hours later to see a lovely message stating that my domain name fell out of "DNS" and it wouldn't be resolved until 3 AM. I am biting my tongue right now as I post, but I'm sure you can imagine how upset I am. The site is actually up (http://216.221.183.213/index.htm) but it is unusable as the domain name is written in all of the html code as opposed to the IP address. I can't even get into the board to change the paths to the IP address.
Sorry everyone. :( My board's reputation for being the "reliable one" and "old faithful" has just been shot! :(
I would just like to know how this happened in the first place? frown

Thank you Sleek-Jet for your kind and uplifting words. :) I'm REALLY wondering though. How did this happen and what is to prevent it from happening again in the future? :confused: I'll give you a little background here. My domain name was on one name server for a year without ever having a problem. As my first year of registration came close to expiring, I transfered it to another name server. Now this has happened. :( I am VERY much looking forward to an explanation.

Dropped out of DNS huh? Sounds like they're feeding you a bunch of Hooey there Doug......
I've never seen a site "drop" out of DNS without human intervention..... Unless, of course, a DNS server went down with no redundancy builtin. But that would be a rare thing due to Replication. since I see that it is UNIX based, it would be even more rare.... UNIX/LINUX is a VERY reliable system....

Funny thing is I can bring it up on my network machines running on Winproxy but the last post shows at 6AM, nothing more current. I can't bring it up on my server though.
I had the same situation when you moved the site a couple weeks ago. My network machines would bring up the old site and I had to go to the server to bring up the new active version. As soon as your site went down the other day, that situation corrected and I could access the current version from all my machines.
I had the same situation when Hot Boat moved their site a month or so ago and am still having trouble bring some of the ***boat posted images up on my net machines although they come right up on the server.
wierd stuff.

Yeah, this is all seems weird to me. There's been too many problems in the past week. I just don't understand how my domain name can "drop out". I am so looking forward to an explanation that is more detailed than that. In the meantime, my email doesn't work either. F350@aol.com is my alternate.

RexOne, I need one of those direct drive alternator kits and alternator for a BBC. How quick can ya get one to me in NorCal? I'd hate to have a chute pull cord get wrapped up in an alternator belt. eek!

Any idea why my network machines might be acting like described above? Running peer to peer network of 9 pcs with Winproxy software. Net machines will bring up Dougs site (albiet old 6AM version)...server won't touch it. Strange to me not bein a computer tech :( Both machines show exactly same url address in address bar.
