The sexual assault charge is a class-three felony, carrying a possible prison term of four years to life, if convicted.
Eagle County District Attorney Mark Hurlbert made the announcement Friday afternoon, as media from across the country gathered outside the courthouse in the small town of Eagle.
Minutes later, Bryant issued a statement through his attorneys, saying, “I made the mistake of adultery. I have to answer to my wife and my God for my actions that night and I pray that both will forgive me.”
Bryant went on to say, “Nothing that happened June 30th was against the will of the woman who now falsely accuses me.”
Bryant, 24, is accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman who was working at the concierge desk at the Lodge at Cordillera on June 30. He was staying at the lodge while having surgery on his knee at a nearby clinic.
