I have a 1993 6.5 turbo diesel. Just installed EGT and want to know what the maximum safe temperature is.

I have a '94 6.5 that has over 220,000 miles on it right now. When you added the pyro, did it come with the whole exhaust kit or did you just weld a bung in for the sender? The reason I am asking is I put the Bank's Power Pack on mine and it made a huge difference. '94 went the the electrical injection pump versus the mechanical of '92 & '93, but I dont think it would matter much. Here is what I have found, when the pyro is running under 600 deg. F. I am getting the best mileage. Pulling a hill or passing it will run around 900deg or so. I have had it as high as 1100 deg, but backed out of it before it got hotter. From what I have come to understand, around 1200 deg. is where bad things start happening. Sorry for the long winded answer. Hope it helps. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

1250* if mounted pre-turbo, 1000* if mounted post turbo, for continuous use. Obviously more temp can be seen for short durations, but it's not adviseable.

I have a Ford diesel and visit this site often. It may be a place to find your answer, or find a link to a site for your truck.
