If you had $100,000 to start any kind of business you want. There's no limitation or requirement to what you can do. Only rule is that you can't spend more then $100,000.
What would you guys do?

Run to Mexico and bring back as much cocaine as you can.

Real Estate. Buy worst homes in nice areas. Fix 'em up and resell them. Even if you don't have the skills you can hire people (from the boards even) to do the work.

Good idea Dan, it worked for me. But there are no more houses for less than $100,000. :(
If you use it as a downpayment then I guess you are good, but you can't spend more than 100k. I guess you could buy houses in Needles..... :D

Gotta check the local markets and do a lot of research to find the home/homes that have the greatest potential. Best locations and lowest value homes in the area should provide maximum return on investment (ROI).

100K would buy 2 incinerators. We use these for testing gas wells in the oilfield. They burn at a much higher temp than just normal flare stacks and put out far less emissions. They rent out for around 1000/day and have very little maintenence. there's a waiting list for the ones that are available in Alberta right now.

In all honesty, I would go for the property. I have a great shitbox in Tujunga right now that will probably go for about 100K. It need serious work, but in decent shape its probably worth 230K.

I'd buy rental properties. We have positive cash flow on all ours, and the initial investment is minimal. If you qualified you could pick up several with 100k. Interest rates ain't gonna stay this low forever. smile_sp

So why don't these companies that need them just buy them rather then rent them? Oil companies are very reluctant to buy equipment, due to liability issues. Also, If they buy equipment, then they need to hire people, pay a pension, benefits, train, supply wheels, insurance etc. It's cheaper for then to rent and write off the operating costs. That's why us poor consultants (me), get paid a good day rate and we supply our own insurance, wheels, training, etc. When they are done with us, they can just toss us in the trash!! It ain't that bad, but that's the jist of it.

I do real estate here in the greater LA area and a guy in my office specializes in income property and he has a few that make sense. PM me and let me know.

Why wait? Go for the money!! Find something with a quick return.
Don't let some real estate chumps rip you off.
