Not to mention snapping off both legs in an axle failure...been in one where your legs went Over the axles and ring gear had a plate over it ...but that..NO Way

Those guys had BALLS running fuel in them! I had a little econo dragster in the late 70's & the way you sat in those front engine chassis's was by sitting with your butt in back of the diff with your legs hangin over the top of the axle tubes & it wasn't that uncomfortable, not the way that picture shows with the axle tubes over the legs that picture mut be a mockup. There was a guy who had a fuel Altered AA\FA who did have a diff explode & it took his parts with it! I forgot his name it was so long ago but he wore a bag after that!

My first post, was involved with an A/FUEL dragster in mid 70's and our car was a slingshot with a narrowed 9inch Ford rearend, driver's legs went over top of rearend.
This is very old picture,left hand corner has what looks like to be left turn signal from 56 Ford Crown Victoria.

I did that for a long time.not with the rear end in the picture.heres one better.Think about this Late 60's Lions Drag Strip IT's night time at 700ft mark you see the oil vapor start to come out of breathers at 1000 ft. it's getting on your goggles at finish line you burnt 3 pistons your wearing about 6 OTS. of oil penszoil 60wt you just ran 7.00 at 225 an your in the dark what a thrill you can't pull your goggles down because it might explode because of all the crap you put in the NITRO to get that old 392 HEMI to haul ass.Your so greasy the crew has to take the cowel off to get you out.Then you go back to pits to wash your silver fire suit with cleaning solvent so you can race again.Only thing better was add the FIRE that usely went along with .THINK ABOUT THATit. jawdrop jawdrop jawdrop
