Waltrip wins due to Rain...he prayed for Rain WTF what a way to win a race! What about the fans that wanted to see a 500 mile Race????

It would suck a$$ to buy a ticket to Daytona and it gets rained out, and since the race is half over they give it to the leader. DEI needed the win.
Kilrtoy...see you and your better half in Lost Wages March 2nd.
So glad Newman is ok.

They should give partial points and list it as LOW. Luck out win.

Let's see, if it keeps raining, I get the check, the trophy, and the points.
If it stops raining and we go back to racing, maybe my battery will go tits-up like juniors.
Hmmmm....I think I'm going to opt for the 2 million dollar rain dance!

Jeff "roush" Burton the rain king? how many did he win in 2001 by rain?

NASCAR had no choice, the race was past halfway so they had to A. Finish the race, which meant possibly waiting until the wee hours of the morning, and we know the rain that finally halted the race was going to be steady for 12hrs or more, or B. call it a race, had they only gone 99 laps and stopped they would have had the rest of the race run today. It's NASCAR's rules, so what if Mikey did a rain dance, 3.5 million reasons would have me doing the same thing. I'm glad that DEI prevaled. Too bad for Jr. Maybe if he had turned on that Master switch and not gotten the pushstart things might have been different, oh well thats racin'.
see ya Mike VG

That's right! He was the one out front. He deserved that win more then anyone else at that instant in time.

He deserved alright, I just hate to see a race cut short. He has been around for awhile, sometimes mother nature has her opinion wink

He could have won it straight up, fastest qualifier still on the lead lap. Excuse me?
I seem to remember the 31 driver (and fellow Parker Hot Boater), Robby Gordon having the 3rd fastest time in qualifying AND winning the first 125.
Waltrip couldn't get in front or stay in front without being pushed and pulled by Junior. Another 5 laps and MW would have been relegated to the "also ran" catagory.

Let's see, Jr. and Michael had the strongest cars. Michael wins!! OK by me. He prayed for rain - - Burton does rain dances. Just because it's Daytona, Mike's a bad guy?? cry

As equal as a lot these cars are today, I bet every driver that gets into the lead of a race starts praying for rain even when there is no chance of rain. :D But you got to be a the front of the pack to take advanage an opportunity should one come along. In this case it was Dale jr. that pulled Waltrip to the front but thats what team mates are for. I would think jr. was thinking that was the best thing that could happen next to him winning himself. It probably would have had a different ending had it gone 200 laps. I would almost say jr. could have won it but we will never know. I am glad for Waltrip but I would have liked to see what Jeff and Robby Gordon had at the end. If Jeff Gordon is in the top ten on the last few laps you can't count him out of winning and Robby is learning fast. Damn rain..... yuk I wish it would have rained here instead. Gotta get some water in this lake. RWYB in one month :)

My bad, had #31 and #15 flip-flopped, But I still think he could have won it anyway. If the race kept on, junior would have likely got his other lap, and maybe the lead back, then you've got 2 DEI Bad-Asses to deal with again! I don't think he won 3 out of the last 5 Daytona races by accident.
