If you purchase a new boat from a builder in CA but have it delivered in AZ, do you still pay CA sales tax?

Also, I belive if you register it with the coast guard you don't have to pay taxes.... I'm not sure on that one.

NO. I am sorry but California needs your tax money. Gray Davis has promised it to whatever special interest group he can bribe into voting for him. wink

Register the boat directly in AZ. You can do this if you use the boat in AZ the majority of the time. The trailer would be registered in CA. yoU would pay AZ non resident sales tax, which is 5.4% I believe.

Here's the deal as far as I know. You have to have a receipt of delivery notarized in the state of delivery signed by you and the person who delivered it.After that you cannot park or store the vehicle or vessel in your home state for 6 months, and in some counties if they discover you park the vessel in state they may assess a property or sales tax.
