I think my mom is on crack, but she's telling me that she went out on a boat made by Toyota...the car company. And she said its a new boat. Any takers on this one?

They did a partnership on a ski boat. Had the Lexus motor in it I think. It was an Epic. Here is a link. http://www.epicmarine.com/history_of_epic_boats.htm

Ya, it's out there.
Waterski magazine had an article on them about a year ago.
Another slow ski boat. :p
Even though ski boats typically hit 60mph now.
Maybe one day they'll do 80. :D

It's true. They made a few hundred boats and closed operations about a year ago. We supplied them with some of the hardware items. Don't know alot about them though as far as the boat or engine. Some dealers may actually still have new boats in stock for sale, I don't know.

No thanks.
My boats only eight years old.
I had to go to Rex Marine for speedo's. :D

I think I remember hearing when they shut down building operations that they would maintain parts and warranty support for something like 5 years...again not sure. I'm pretty sure though that it's not through the car division or dealerships as the boats weren't sold through them.

No...I'm sure it's not through the car dealer.
Nissan's marine division has nothing to do with the car dealer.
Rice burning boats with wings on em.

For most people, that would be a faux pas. In my case though, I'm confortable with where this has ended up. :D

Yep, Toyota had a Malibu type boat for a few years.
Good motor, but bad reputation boat.
Low quality, harsh ride, very slow, and a lot more money than a Malibu or a Natique. Overall, not very well thought out.
Some the newer 2003 design wakeboard boats from other builders approch 50 MPH speeds. That is, the ones with the newer bottom designs like one of the Mastercrafts and a few of the 2003 and a half Tige's.

"Typically" "60" A bit of exaggerating don't you think?
jawdrop Come on guys, I read the water ski and the wakeboard mags and I see the top speeds listed in their buyers guides. A tiny handful of them will come close to or hit 60. The vast majority of ski and or wakeboard boats won't even do 50. There are more of them that won't even do 45 sleeping than there are ones who get near 60. It's mostly only the ones for barefooting that get to any speed. :D

I am with you elim.... If you look at the Malibu web site for instance I think there is only a couple of the boats on there that even get into the high 50's even with the Corvette LS1 or the big 8.1... These boats aren't designed to hit high speeds. They are concerned with wake control, bottom end performance to get the skier/boarder out fast, and a whole shitload of storage. The market that buys those boats aren't out for top end performance. At least that is what I think, and I am always open for discussions to learn more. The video clips on the Malibu web site are quite informative, and the one for the Sunsetter 23xti is actually a little bit amusing..
