The ice went off my favorite lake on Friday. :)
One of the year-round residents there told me about it yesterday. When it first breaks up, it goes out with a bang like a sonic boom. It scared the shit out of me the first time I heard it.
Two more months and summer will be here. :)
I hope you all have open water to boat on soon too.

It won't be long now for you, either. I'm glad I'm down south in the sun belt. :)

Hey hoolign, do you have a place on Sylvan? It's been a few years since I've been there but maybe we could meet there on the water some time. I'm a tenter, though. :)

Hooligan, here are a couple of pics from last summer. This is where I do most of my boating. I got a buddy of mine to fly us over my parent's cottage in his C-172RG.
That's me in the front passenger seat. I had hair back then. :D

That picture was taken on a Wednesday evening (about 6 pm). There was a boat on the lake when we flew over. It was a Master Craft ski boat towing a wake boarder. He was about 7 miles further up the lake from where that picture was taken.
There are 4 lakes in that chain of lakes. The chain is about 35 miles long. That's the last lake in the chain and we saw a small fishing boat on the second lake too. It's a nice place to boat.
Every year on the July 1st long weekend there is a fishing tournament and it packs up pretty good then. I've seen it really hopping with about 30 boats/PWCs on the lake. That particular lake is about 1.5 miles wide and 9 miles long.
:)
