Lets get this right! :D
Democracy working exactly as planned in the constitution of the state. The recall is the people's will, not "a stolen election" or "sour grapes by a bunch of losers," as Davis called the 60% who have voted him out.
Hasta la vista, baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the recall is an opportunity to vote...
it's not a right wing conspiracy...
davis could've remained in office, but i believe the people who voted for him last time are the difference.the deficit grew by the billions right after the election. that in itself is enough reason for the recall.

LANDSLIDE BABY!!!
I'm tired of trying to reason with people who have no clue. I cannot believe anyone voted against the recall or for Bustamante. I understand why people would have voted for other candidates (many I talked to voted for them as a way to register their protest and/or lack of candidate they like).
Sure you might not like Arnold but wouldn't you like to see him succeed? If/when he succeeds we all benefit.
Sure you may be a Democrat but keep in mind it's not about which party is better or right (they're both off base much of the time) - it's about trying to put this state back on a road to financial recovery. It's going to take a lot of work and I suggest you stick around and keep your eyes and ears open - you're now going to find out just how many problems this state has and what a fiscal hole California is in. There are HUGE problems ahead for all of us. You might want to pitch in and try and make it better - we've got three years to see an improvement.
This is indeed a GREAT DAY FOR CAL-EE-FORNIA!!!

with potentially record voter turnout for a nonpresidential election i found this quote interesting:
Already, though, Democratic activists are threatening a challenge. Rainbow/PUSH head Jesse Jackson, who has campaigned with Davis repeatedly for the last several weeks, announced that a challenge was likely because voters were disenfranchised because the speedy nature of the race forced polling places to be condensed.
"To reduce [the number of polling places] by two thirds and consolidate, there are thousands of people who are disenfranchised," Jackson said.
i think californians were "disenfranchised" in the last election...

All I can say is Thank God we will finally have someone in office that is working for the people instead of himself.

Don't expect the hardcore dem activists to "get it". They never will. The people have spoken. Resoundingly. Not by a few thousand votes either. Unfortunately some won't hear the message.
Expect every kind of challenge known to man regarding the election results and personal allogations against Arnold in the coming days. They will try every dirty trick they can muster to nullify this election and prevent Arnold from assuming office.
If these same democratic activist dufuses would channel their energy into non-partisian cooperation and getting things done, real change might actually take place with the people of California benefiting instead of special interests.
But like I said, "they don't get it".

Sour grapes at the Davis concession speech, crowd starts chanting recall Arnold! of course thats over the chants of VIVA Grey Davis! Gotta love it.
Still noticed how Grey never accepted any responsibility for this states trouble, according to his speech everything is golden in the golden state.
HASTA LA VISTA BABY! :D :D :D

gray was only the part of the iceberg that was above the water and we could see...
if arnold succeeds it will be truly amazing.
i would bet that the majority of the legislature is hoping he fails. so they can prove how right they are...then in three years they can get another puppet in there...
election day is almost over ...
then, back to my "stay away from political topics" :D

I've always felt pretty politically middle of the road up until the past couple years. Even have voted for some democrats in the past being registered republican. Lately though listening to Bustamencha, and guys like Art Torres spew their borderline socialistic crap and seeing our freedoms continually encroached on in the legislative bullshit stream out of Sacramento, I actually start to feel ill and deep anger I get so pissed. Hopefully they will work with Arnold to fix this mess. If not at least someone is in place at the top to veto much of the stupid crap this legislature produces. Well, after 39 days of lame duck free for all that is.

I really think it is a sad day for california. IT is sad that the state was driven into the dirt by free spending legislators and had a governor that was all too ready with the OK pencil to sign up for more spending. It is sad that the governor could not find a way to correct power crisis caused by a flawed deregulation law that put all of the burden of electricity price variation on the utility. Prices go up for them, they can't raise rates...and the debt stacked like cord wood on these utilities.
The entire legislature can take credit for that and Governor Wilson for signing the deregulation measure.
That being said, what was Davis thinking when he decided to buy power, and have the state negotiate contracts for the purchase. I live in the Sacramento area and have a good number of friends that do work for or sell to the state. Their best margins (highest prices) come from the state because they cannot buy a damn thing from a paper clip to a vehicle and not get the shaft. Due in part to all of the rules that they have to go by, and their disconnect from the private sector.
So we have a 10 billion dollar budget surplus go to a 38 billion dollar deficit in two years. Someone has to pay the piper for such mismanagement. Davis was the CEO of the state and he got sacked by his board of directors, the people of california.
Is it a great day...no...no...not at all. It is one little baby step on the way back from the edge of the cliff. We can still fall over the edge...so we must stay involved! We need to keep things moving forward to undo the insanity of the last 5 years.
Also, We need to clean house this next election to help Arnold get what needs to be done accomplished.
At least I am not heading for the border...I am going to give it a couple of more years. If it is still this screwed up, I am out of here. cry

So Arnold had a higher percentage of the vote than Davis did when he won. Huh? what a surprise.
If you added McClinock's numbers to Arnold's that is a pretty serious statement of the populations dissatisfaction with the Democratic Agenda.

Following up on Mandelon's post (above this one)...watch out for the liberal spin on the election numbers. Here's what they want to (going to) say:
More people voted NO on the recall than voted FOR Arnold.
Right now (6AM Wednesday), with 96.8% of precincts reporting, Arnold has 3,477,359 votes and the "no" on the recall has 3,439,300 so Arnold is still ahead on this.
However, if you add some or most of McClintock's votes (958,984) which clearly would have gone to Arnold if Tom did the right thing and stepped down, there would be no comparison on the numbers at all.
The spin from the left will come.
Speaking of which, did you see Bustamante's "concession speech?" I watched it on Fox TV and afterwards (when he said they won on Prop 54) one of the talking heads said, "someone should tell Bustamante he lost the election!"
And later on I heard Bustamante saying stuff like, "I'm not going anywhere - I'm still here (in Sacto)" and "if Arnold wants to do more than pose for pictures and make movies then he'll work with me to make things better" and other horse$hit. The guy isn't qualified to be a bus driver and he's feeling empowered to talk smack to the governor-elect. I have a feeling Arnold's going to put Bustie into a drawer in his desk and let him make strip mall appearances.

Did you see that George B. Schwartzman got over 10,000 votes!
I'm sure most of those votes were intended to go to Arnold because George B. Schwartzman's name was right next to Arnold's on every ballot and people couldn't follow Arnold's name across and ended up punching George's chad.

At least I am not heading for the border...I am going to give it a couple of more years. If it is still this screwed up, I am out of here. cry Dr. Eagle...I may be wrong but didn't the deregulation of electricity require the utilities to "bank" the excess profits for those occasions when the rates rose and their margin shrank? Didn't the electrical provider heavily back the law? Didn't the utilities distribute the excess profits before the crisis to their stockholders and fail to keep a cushion for when they cost rose? Didn't the LAW state that the electrical rates were frozen AND the utilities lobbied heavily for it? Hmmmmm...unless my memory fails me (onset of old-timers disease!) the utilities KNEW what they were getting into and distributed their profits quickly in case the cost went up and then they could plead cry for higher rates which, in fact, they got.
I still think - and you won't change my mind - that this is a GREAT day for democracy and the will of the people. It is NOT a great day for the state in general to have to get to this point by a bunch of crooks (Electrical generators who have admitted "gaming" the market - Reliant, Enron, Southern Energy, et. al.) and other forces that Grey (sp) couldn't manage.

I So glad Davis is out and Arnold is in. But Know will the Democrats try to file a suit for a recount? That would be very stupid on their part if they do.
