For "boating" its gotta be the river! That could be anywere between Hoover Dam to Havasu!
The big blue also ranks right up there.

For my once a year treat, Lake Powell is the place for me. For the other 51 weeks in the year, Havasu does just fine. :)

http://www.smithvilletn.com/lake/index.htm Center Hill Lake in TN... 64 miles long...415 miles of the nicest shoreline you could ever want. What does it cost to launch?? NOTHING! Rangers harrassing you? NONE! I can go full speed all day and never cross a wake, or pull tubes so fast the tubes break from the pull...but never flip cuz it's GLASS. Water so clear and clean you would be amazed. Damn I miss it! cry Can't wait till June.....

Havasu is the place since I live here. But the coolest place I can remember is Dale Hollow Lake in Tennesee. Standing in 6feet of water and still seeing you feet is a very cool thing. We used to spend 2-3 weeks a summer there when I was little and we lived in Ohio.

I would have to say Mohave Valley. I can launch my boat at the private marina or go to launch beach and launch and then park my truck right on the water with a cooler and boat anchored. Nothing better than being out there on a Tuesday afternoon with the river free of A$$HOLES!!!!

Wolf river, 15 min from my house, up river to nipple beach for drunken nekkedness, down river to one of the two hot sand bars, or one of the many bars with big ol decks along the river, or out to the lake and stop at the micro brew on the water to watch the big money go by. :D

Parker is the best...however twice per year we go to Mojave 'cause of the room there and my wife loves the Casinos. However I can't forget my local favorite spot! During the week almost all year lomg and that is Long Beach Marine Stadium! At the beach during the week (during the summer) we take off early from work around 1pm and we are in the water wake boarding by 1:45pm. No crowds during the week, at 6:30pm we fire up the lil' weber and roast some dogs. At 8:00pm we are at the local quarter car wash ... flush the motor at home and we are back at the crib watching the ol'big screen by 9:00pm. Last year we went right through the middle of November. My sons went last week and said it was great and the water was warm enough in the middle of the day that they didn't need wet suits. Over all the Colorado River is best! :D :D wink :D

Different spots have different "attitudes". Hard to pick a favorite. Probably Shasta ranks high up there though. Others include Naci, San Antonio, Berryessa, CFW, Millerton, Bass, Shaver, Kings River. Gonna have to try Havazoo, Parker & Mead some day... :D

I'm with Riverdave, Parker is the best. But when you get a little older you do what I did; you buy a house on the water 80 feet from your own dock where you can put 2 or 3 boats on lifts. When you're ready to go, you drop the boat in the water and you're off. You have a lot of bars and restaurants if you're in the mood, if not you go home get in the spa have a martini. The next day you start all over again.
The biggest problem is you only do this 4 to 5 months then you sit around the house and freeze your ass off. Thats why I'm buying a house in Havasu. Then I can go to Parker when ever I want

my favorite place when i am up in nor-cal is this little pond outside of oroville called the afterbay :D .
its free to launch. its never crowded. the rangers sleeping dont give us a hard time about open headers(usually they come by and say wassup). there are some pretty good beaches. and there are usually some pretty fast boats lookin for a good dragrace(which i am happy to ablige). the only downfall is that the water is very cold because it is used to irrigate rice farms so the water is always leaving and being replaced. eek!
when i'm in so cal it has to be parker for the long trips or pyramid for the local ones... i cant say havasu because it is just waaaaay to rough for my boat now. cry

For drunken disorder and bikini (or the lack of) watching it has to be Grand Lake in northeast Oklahoma. For sheer beauty it has to be Beaver Lake in nortwest Arkansas. Set in the mountains with water so clear I could make out ever pebble on the bottom at 15'. Damn I am ready for summer!!!!! On a good note though it is suppossed to be in the low 80s this weekend. May just have to fire the beast up!
