Hello all, new to this forum and new to owning a boat actually. Early this summer we picked up a 1977 16' Glasstron, Tri-hull with open bow. We've been enjoying this boat but want to increase hp as we only have 33 hp right now. I'm looking at buying a 65 or 85 Mercury and if I do I'd like to sell our motor. I have no clue what it's worth. It runs great, I've been told it's a mid to late 60's Evinrude. It's a 33 hp Ski-Twin, electric start with manual tilt. Anyone have an idea what I should ask for this motor?
Thank you in advance for any input.

You might try posting this Q in the Outboards forum. There are also a couple guys in the Hotspots East forum who are really knowledgeable about outboards. oh yeah, welcome aboard!

I'll give you $15 plus shipping. I could make that power my fishing raft.

Thank you, I posted in outboard. Yes, I know it's small for most of you, we're not serious boaters, just like to play a little when we have free time and only plan on pulling a tube and fishing. Works for us.

My experiences are if it's in good condition, it's worth it's weight in gold.
Nothing motorized holds it's value like a outboard motor.
If ya buy a new one, consider Honda or Yamaha 4 strokes. The dealers are soft on price,, they're negotable.
Most the Merc and Yamaha 4 strokes are the same motors by the way.

I'd say if it is clean and runs good starts every time. comes with the controls 600.00 to 800.00 bucks! I have a 1955 25 hp johnson in my shed. those old outboards are really neat collectors items if your into all that! Ebay would be a good spot to sell it I've sold some pritty big outboards on there and the buyers had to pick them up! cool! Good Luck :)

But yeah they are interesting specimens of boating history that is! :D I got a bare hull that I have been very very slowly restoring for the motor as well so when I get the boat done my daughters will be able to use it if they want when they get old enough or I should say they will be old enoughwhen it is finnished! :D

Sorry to burst anyones bubble, but it is probably worth about $100.00 or so, IF you can find a buyer. Unless you have something special like a Champion hot-rod or an older Merc 20H, 55H, 75H, KE7 or 25XS or a Quincy looper, all you have is an old motor. Run it and enjoy, or buy something lighter and newer.

Two stroke issues may effect it's value too. :D http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/939Picture_5-thumb.jpg <-Casanova Cam
