Isn't there some paint or coatings that is supposed to cause less friction against the water than fiberglass? Have you ever used it? What did you think????

Hey NB. I remember reading a thread about this a couple of months ago. Some company has a wax that slickens up the bottom of your hull and claims to add a couple of mph's to your top end due to reduced friction.
Might be an ad in the back of ***boat or similar mag......

Thanks, I'll check it out. I thought there was a paint that stayed on forever and was supposed to be a 3-5 mpg ave gain too.

You might be thinking of Speedcoat not sure. But it does not stay on forever and dont know about staying on forever.

Your, probably talking about dry graphite spray. It's a old drag racers trick,I have it on my boat, just touch it up once a year.I will post some pics later, Sand area with 320 spray light coats scuff with 600/gray scotch brite.Mckay brand works the best

Big thread on OSO about Speed Coat...more complaints than anything. Best case is one gained 3mph. I think I'll save my money.

From what I have heard Speedcoat does not do as much, if anything, for step bottom boats or cats. It works better on conventional V bottoms.
I used Graphite spray on the Lower part of the drive on my last boat, and the thing became very slippery when you put water on it but I don't know if I would want the bottom of my boat to be gray. It also has to be reapplied frequently because it rubs off.
