Are you trying to download MP3's???
I've been using Winmx.com
Its pretty easy.
Anyone know how to convert MP3's to files that a regular CD player can read. Can a regular CD player read WAV files?

Some new cars read mp3s, but they must be all in the root of the cd and not in a folder. Use software like "Nero" to create a music cd which will convert the mp3 files to the standard cd format. I have a copy of Nero, and the crack http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif

I never could get Morpheus to work for me either. I gave up and have been using iMesh. Had pretty good luck with it thus far.

RC-Regular CD players can only read WAV files. There are a few different programs out there that will convert MP3 files to Wav files...Easy CD Creator, Adaptec, are a few. Hope that helps.

Ok on WinMX, is there a way that you can only allow 3-4 people to download off of ya at a time??

Dave, go to the "transfer" screen. On the grey bar in the middle, click on "queuing" at the left end. Set the uploads limit to whatever you desire.

Here you go Dave. KaZaA (http://www.kazaa.com/en/index.php)
I tried it out on CC's recommendation. Have to say I prefer WinMX. You get more search results with WinMX, downloads generally seem faster and you have more options regarding search criteria-connection speed, file type/bitrate.

Charley, I use Limewire and am able to get almost every song I try for. It's very easy to use too

Lime wire was my next option..
Now about this song..
Nelly - Hot in here..
Does this song have like a 5 minute intro or does the whole song suck??
Am I downloading the wrong one??
Is there any lyrics to this song??
Hip Hop??

Yes there are lyrics but I think the song sucks. It gets old after 2 plays. Dave try winMX or limewire.
As far as the turning the MP3's into wave files use Roxio EZ CD creator. That is 5.0. Nero works also but CD creator is better. They now sell mp3 head units and changers now. You can fit about 100 to 150 songs on 1 cd with it being a MP3. If you are setting up a new stereo in a boat that is the way to go. Never have to change the cd.

RD, just for grins I downloaded that Nelly song(not my type of music http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif ).
It's 3:48 long.
You must be downloading the wrong one.
Yes, there are lyrics(It's getting hot in here.....so take off all your clothes....)
I guess its Hip Hop. See comment above ^

Has anyone thought about getting a satellite radio for the boat?I was thinking it would be perfect,I know my radio doesn't get squat on the river so if you had an XM radio and tuned in the hip-hop channel you'd be stylin....Only question is where to mount the antenna so it doesn't get hosed by Froggy's roostertail!!!

RD,
Morpheus, or Gnutella derivatives I don't recommend.
Never even heard of it <KaZaA>...
Where do you download it?
Uhm...didn't you read my post on 22 June in your Hip Hop music thread? I posted the link to KaZaAlite which was active for several days before "authorities" removed http://free.***boat.net/ubb/frown.gif
In case you didn't see my post, here's a new link with several mirrors...get it while u can...
KaZaALite (http://svr1.kazaalite.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewsdownload&sid=3)
BTW, you'll want KaZaALite and NOT KaZaA. Because the Lite version removes both ad and spyware! Important if you want to keep privacy and speed, protect against unauthorized access to your computer? Unlike the latest versions of Limewire. No hassles or bullshit. Just a thought.
Now about that song I posted, Nelly - "Hot in Herre" in your Hip-Hop thread RD? Looks like some here read my post. Yes, it gets old quick as Bense says, too repetitive, and certainly radio over-played soon, but it's fairly new, sexy, somewhat creative and at least classified as "Hip-Hop" The subject of your other thread?
Is it the greatest? Of course not! Is it worthy of lake CD party....maybe? Although certainly short-lived and only if you're into to that flavor. But then both new and greatest lake party music VERY hard to come by these days. Eminem Show 2002..."without me" best track but borderline corny. And somewhat less lake worthy than Nelly's Hot. Rest of M&M is boring rap filler and very uninspired, hoping to fund a come-back I suppose.
You've seen my stuff RD, I'm always open to a wide range of quality new tunes to rock the lake, but it's tough to fill ten CD's with 100% party quality...even in CDA format. Not (rage rock) nor too soft (downer)...but always sexy w/good beat. And plenty of Bass!
As for Nelly lyrics, "it's getting hot in here, take your clothes off" what better fits a lake party?? Tastes differ.
Rivercrazy,
As for "regular" CD players reading wavs...nope. They read CDA format. But most CD burner software can convert wav format to CDA format before burning, so your "regular" player can read the burned CD's and you won't even know the difference. In fact most burner software now convert mp3 directly to CDA format while burning. Technology driven by public demand moves on, and now some CD players even understand and read mp3 data format directly. Imagine that. But not "regular" CD players if that was the question.
As for Easy CD creator, originally by Adaptec, now promoted by Roxio, well, it works, used it for a year, but like Nero way better.
What I didn't like about Easy CD Creator:
1) Burnt many coasters. Nero on the other hand, has burnt zero...probably because it first tests and adjusts burn speed to data transfer rate...just a guess tho.
2) Adaptec software insisted on turning CD auto-insert notification on everytime I used the software, ignoring that I have turned auto-insert off. VERY annoying!
Admitted I haven't used the latest and greatest Easy CD Creator, so maybe they've fixed these annoying shortfalls? I'm comparing software versions from each company not long ago, less than a year at most.

LVJetboy, Thanks for the informative post!
Ok now I have a few questions based off of it..
I downloaded "Kazaa" this morning before I came to the boards... Now how do I know if I got Kazaalite?? or Kazaa.. Do you think it's worth uninstalling and downloading Kazaalite??
Lastly, does anyone use "Sony CD Extreme?"
I have a question about how you burn a song if it's not in the 44hz 16 bit format.

Try getting an updated version of your media player. Maybe this will fix your prob then you will not have to look any farther. Otherwise let it buffer and then play.

RD,
If you installed Lite your shortcut should say KaZaA Lite, and when you start it up and click on help/about it should give the version. I'm running Lite 1.7.1
Unlike the "Lite" version, straight KaZaA installs spyware, adware and a little jewel called B3D, which will allow your computer to be controlled from outside. If none of these things bother you then no big deal. Although not fatal, they can be annoying, invade your privacy, and eat CPU cycles.
If you want to switch to Lite...
Uninstalling Kazaa will remove Cydoor (spyware) and most other junk I believe, but not B3D. Just like uninstalling AudioGalaxy leaves the evil gator behind. Here's how to remove B3D:

Best wishes,
