Hopefully just bumps and bruises. Those bikes can hurt when they land on you. :)

only injury was a sprained wrist. I tried to save the bike from hitting the tree in front of me by not letting go and it ended up on top of me.
hallet19- that's one of my all time favorite flicks.

Mike how was the suspencion on the new 450? is it better than the Raptor's?

cyclone

The 450 is the shit. Its a total race bike right out of the box. The more you push it and faster you ride it the better it works. Handles better than a banshee, revs as quick as a banshee, has more power than a banshee and only weighs 350lbs. Its the lightest 4-stroke atv on the market. The suspension is super good too. Its got Kayaba piggy back coilovers and a YZ style rear link suspension. I think its got like 10-inches of suspension travel too. Im definately going to buy the 450 real soon.

(Accelerator pump, valve covers, keeping an eye on you at the river so Fufu doesn't have to come up with bail money...) :D

the upper ones are made from cast alumimum. the bottom ones are made form DOM tubing. whoever bent that one must have hit something fierce!

my former boss purchased a brand new '03 honda 400ex about 6 months ago and put a pipe and a couple other goodies on it... then he decided before he put a ton of money into mods he would give the 400 to the wife, and buy a banshee and trick it out with a bunch of bolt ons, which he did...
2 weeks later he went for a ride on the new honda crf450, he said the thing felt like a 2 stroke that was always in the powerband... soooooooo like a true MAN, he bought a brand new crf450... him and his buddy then put the 450 motor in the 400ex. he then took the totally stock appearing (unless you look really close and notice the different motor, and radiator) quad to sand mountain, and proceeded to kick everyones ass up the hills, including fully tricked chromed out painted, swingarm over etc etc etc... and believe me he is not a small guy. he had everyone scratching their heads... bottom line: stock 400ex = 27 hp; crf 450 = 55 hp.... he says after he sold all the leftover parts on e-bay including the 450 frame and 400 motor, he is only into the project for about $1500... thats a hell of a deal, and the bike is a total ass kickin sleeper, kinda like cyclone's boat :D
this is not the first time he's done this. he has built several old atc70's with modified 110 and 125 motors, and other various sleepers, and his buddy just took a new honda 90 and put a cr250 motor in it (talk about a hand full) :D
there are pics of the 400/450 in the mail in clips section of the new dirt rider issue (i think its dirt rider)
sorry for the long post

in the august issue of dirt wheels there's pics of a 400ex that's got the crf450 motor in it. I think the guys name is Gordon Spangler. Maybe its the same guy. great idea nonetheless.

yeah, just my luck i will loop it the first time on it eek! ...
the very first time i ever took my quad to the dunes when it was 2 days old, i decided as soon as i got there to go up this steep ass hill like a friggin hero, big mistake, looped it halfway up and tumbled all the way down, way down...
anyways it will be a year or two before i can do it to mine, but i gotta tell you, his quad sure does rip. definetly the fastest quad i've ever been on, even the faster than a couple heavily tricked out banshees that i've rode

Hey Cyclone, where are you riding that has woods like your pic in so cal? Im tired of riding in the desert and could use a new place.

cyclone
07-26-2003, 09:19 AM
those woods are in Paducah, Kentucky. I believe the place is called Turkey Bay or something like that. I was only there for two days. The trails go on and on for miles. Real easy to get lost without a gps.

i sold my banshee after winter was over. i'm not buying a new bike until its chill enough to ride. Summer is for the river, not riding in the desert.

Woodster- they haven't announced it yet. I wouldn't expect it for at least a few more months if at all this year.
