Well after being boatless for a week. I finally found a new ride and let me tell you it was not easy. I have been looking for 4 weeks with no luck, being that everyone is now using thier boat and and not selling it.Some might say say i took took a step back from the challenger and the eliminator
but I paid some bills and got a new truck and this very clean 1977/2003 CVX 20 with a 468 and a Berk. I know its a Ford but it runs hard and was to clean to pass up. This is my first Jet boat so I will need lots of help on set up. I forgot the pump model so ill ask about that later, but I know I will need a diverter. Im getting 4300 RPM at 59 mph GPS with a Full tank and 4 adults 2 kids so I dont think its too slow but im looking for 70 mph like everyone else. Here are a few pics but let me tell you the boat is even better in person. One kinda cool thing that has been done to the boat is the whole inside was Rino lined during resto. The boat is perfect and the peral paint really looks good out on the water. Here a few pics tell me what you think.O ya I got it on ebay the sale is not even over but I just made him an offer of 5K and he bit so we did it that way I think i got it cheap? They guy builds bikes for Easy Rider in KC and is going thru a divorce and needed the money ASAP he claimed he has about 17k into for the resto.

Very nice, I see they shaved the windshield. Do you know what imp you have?? if it is an e pump it will be epoxied into the hull. You can get a loader and shoe for it and it will give you more lift and unwet some of the boat. Nice ride.

It has a hand hole with two wing nuts out side of the boat?Maybe you can tell by the pic even tho it is hard to see?
Wht is TYP oil pressure in this motor? Im getting 25psi at idel and 50-60 at 3K RMP? Im use to always having 60 psi in my BBC

Wow! That's a super clean boat. I'd say it's definitely worth 5k.
How do you like the new truck?

Glasstron looks pretty good. Those boats road great compared to other semi-V boats of their time.

Looks great. :D I'm no expert but, I've never seen a jet who's ride wasn't helped out big time by a diverter, esp when combined with a droop snoot.
One of the mags (I think trailer boats) ran a recient article on G. Carlsons. They said that the Tahiti's were splashed off of them. The article gave high praise to their ride. I also liked the ones they used in the boat chase in Live and Let Die. If, I'm not mistaken, I think the Bat Boat in the first (late 60s or early 70s?) Batman movie was one with wings added.

Good lookin boat !! A diverter will definitley help, trim tabs could make it better too, but go with a diverter first. The oil pressure you are getting is fine. My 460, when cold, pulls about 60-70 and at WOT and about 50 at idle, hot, about 55 psi at WOT and 20-30 at idle. If you are spinning 4300 RPM, even 40 psi is fine. I dont know much about the E pump, but to get any numbers up I think you need a G pump, longer vanes and a split bowl, ride plate and a droop w/ a diverter, and maybe a preload impeller since its a heavier boat. And if you need to add some HP's, a guy named Ben Alameda is the one you want to talk to if you live in Cali, a 514 stroker with aluminum motorsport heads can get you into the 800+ hp range. eek!

Thanks for the advice! It does have a ride plate and the grate has four rail init about 1.5" apart if that helps any. Im still not sure on what pump it is. I will get the # off it tonight and post them.

I always thought those CVX model hulls always looked like some kind of James Bond dealio. They do have some style compared to a lot of other hulls. Good luck with the new boat. Do you think that Rhino Liner stuff added a lot of weight? I have no idea what that stuff weighs, but looks heavy. Have fun with it, summer is here.

Ya it might of added a bit of weight but its worht it i think no fear of rot ever now and its got all new glass and wood under it. I dont think it wieghs much more than gel.

Again, cool ride, enjoy.
