I spent all day today riding around in a vastly overpowered go-cart.
I am friends with the owner of Renegade Hybrids (http://www.renegadehybrids.com/) and spent the day riding around in the owners 460HP Porsche 914

We left Las Vegas at "way to damn early" o'clock (4:45am) and drove to North Hollywood, where this awaited us.

Actually that is only about 1/2 of the group, the other 1/2 was behind us...

We drove over the Mtns to PCH, back up onto Mullholland, and ended up here...

It was pretty cool, lots of NEAT cars (4 diablos), and everyone was pretty kick back.
We left So. Cal. at about 2:00 and were back in Vegas just before 7:00, for a really long day!

Hippy,
I had a teener for a while that I bought as a commuter car to get me from Long Beach to Calabasas. Those things are f'n sweet. Sure they are the poormans Porsche, but they'll outhandle any of the same vintange 911s and 912s. It's amazing that you can put in a 330hp sbc and instantly turn the car into an 11 second drag car that will out handle any of the average rice rockets rolling around these days. Did you guys meet up in Hollywood or in Venice? That looks a lot like the area around Otto's in Venice. Either way, that strech of Mulhulland you guys were on is nice, especially for smaller cars. If you want to go balls to the wall and run it though, pick a weeknight. The only gripe I have about the 914 is the damn transmission. The trans in mine was good and shifting still required a sixth sense. You definitely have to "feel out" the tranny before comiting to throwing the shifter. Not a desireable trait when downshifts are the difference between making the turn and walking down from Decker cyn road to PCH to get cell coverage to call a tow truck. :) I'm sure your friend from renegade hybrids probably upgraded from the old 901(I think) tranny to handle the HP in his little rocket.
Thanks for the pics,
Chris
