Well I missed the river this weekend but we spent a very long day delivering Dogue De Bordeaux pups. A total of 11 pups made it and we lost 2.
The process started at 830 am when I heard my daughter yell, "We have puppies". I ran downstairs to catch the first one and we went from there. We had one still birth and pup number six may have passed due to being blocked in the birth canal for to long after his water broke.
After this happened we went to the vet and delivered the rest in a vet room and only needed assistance with one more. We have 6 boys and 5 girls. The two that passed were girls so the guys would have been outnumbered.
We are all exhausted since the last pup did not come until 445 pm. The father is very proud and very protective of his new family.

Very cool dogs! I know a couple of folks with them that absolutely love them.
Congrats on the litter. Sorry to hear about the little ones who didn't make the trip, but 11 pups is still a huge litter.

Wow,
Congrats on the pups and kudos for all the hard work. 9 of those "little guys" will certainly be a handful!
Thanks for sharing and congrats again. :)

Thanks. I have had this breed for over 15 years now. For a large breed dog they are a very gentle and love their families. They can be very intimidating to strangers until you let them (the dogs) know it's okay. The added plus is that mine always start the water play from a young age and love to be on the boat.
We were really bummed about the one that drowned in the birth canal. She was beautiful as well as being a large pup. The one that was a still birth looked a little abnormal.
