Good luck, look them in the eye when you talk to them, speak clearly, don't ramble, stick to the question and only elaborate on what is necessary...be prepared with 5 - 10 questions about the position, and depending on their answers to those questions have follow on questions...you want to give them the impression you are ready and have scoped this job 10 ways to Sunday....And when they ask you the lame as question about "how would bake a cake?" with a recipe book, or on your own"...let them know "it would depend on what bakery I am working in"

From one utility employee (SCE) to another, good luck! If you get the job tell them you want part of that $56 million PG&E paid out in bonuses last year! :D

JetBoatRich:
Greg what did SCE give you? :D It was more like a "bone-ass" as oppossed to a bonus but it will pay for new speakers and cables in the boat! Heck, I may even have enough left over to help pay for gas this summer! :D

Dirk I will agree with the bullshit part :D Good luck on the interview. Let me know how it went.
Just tell them what an outstanding guy you are and how you love to make sure the customer is always taken care of and don't say you need the promotion to help pay for school. They will know for sure that is a lie. wink

Well, the interview is over now. They teamed up on me 4:1 and it was only supposed to last half an hour, but it went about an hour and 15 min's.
IT WENT GREAT!!! We'll see what happens now, I'm not counting on it. I had them wading in my deluge of bull-fecal commentary.
The only thing that didn't go necessarily well was the fact that my boss doesn't want to lose me and may poison the deal. I'll keep you all updated! Thanks everyone again!

Unless your current boss is an idiot he should realize that if he stands in your way he'll probably lose you anyway. Too many supervisors don't get it.
Good luck!
P.S. Just having a job in this economy is welcome!

Sounds like the current boss needs to make it worthwhile for you to stay. :D

Sounds like the current boss needs to make it worthwhile for you to stay. :D That's the problem, he can't. As electrical engineers in PG&E, we belong to the ESC union, (Engineers and Scientists of California). This union just blows too. If I get the new job, I'm out of it.
