Havasu is a relativelt short drive from anywhere in southern California (about 5 hours), and it is a fairly large lake for the region, about 45 miles long, consequently, it gets alot of attention form almost everyone who boats in So Cal at one time or another. There are many hotels that are either on the water ot are very close to the water, unlike many other lakes, and there are a variety of restaurants for b-fast, lunch or dinner. You can leave your boat and go eat. There is the channel which is a natural gathering place for just hanging out. It is a great place and I've been going since I was 11 (I'm now 44). Since I'm out of the "party" scene due to young children, I'll let the other, more wild members tell all about the party scene...

See So Cal is a big fricking desert and Havasu is the closest big lake around without a speed limit. Funny close is defined as 5 or more hours, lol. Add the channel and the sand bar and you have a winner!!

Havasu is about the closest, large body of non-salt water to thousands of boating enthusiasts from SoCal and Arizona.
Hot weather + hot women + hot boats + warm water + cold beer =

Lake Havasu, best decribed as the Mardi Gras of Arizona, is a major spring break event where people from all walks of life come to blow off a little steam. Houseboats, speedboats, and jet skiis all head for what everyone commonly knows as, "The Sandbar." It's a party where almost anything goes, so long as nobody gets hurt. Music pulses from sun-up to sun-down, and there is enough alchohol to drink a pack of elephants under the table! If a full day of partying hasn't completely exhausted you, then party-on into the night at one of the local clubs. source: http://www.virtualtourist.com/m/19ecb/4fc/

wear pasties.
Come out to Nor Cal where we have topless beaches.
And it ain't so stinking hot!

I think Havasu is great because you can see all of the party at the Sandbar or Canyon, etc. But there are also places to avoid that stuff if you have the kids with you. It's big enough to ski on a weekend (major drawback of Parker) and places to go to get away from the wind (major drawback of Lake Mochoppy). There is just a great variety of things to do, depending on what you're into.
Oh, and we don't go there as often in the winter, the water's too cold, we leave it to the snowbirds from the midwest and Canada to fish. We Californians are spoiled. If the water's not 80 degrees, we're not goin' in!!

All of the above plus it's only 45 min. from the house and my boat is stored right across from
Windsor beach. :)

I know havasu is the place where you can do just about anything and nobody will think badly of you for doin it. they may look at you differently in the morning but it is the place to be yourself and then some. I do things there that I wouldn't other places. My husband got me to wear a g-string. I was good with it. I just thought I was to old and well i've had two kids so. well everyone knows what happens when you have two kids. But i looked just as good as anyone else just a bit older. anyway you can do what you want and have no regrets in the morning unless you don't remember the night before. :p :D
