Hey all you desert rats, on Saturday March 8th a few friends of mine and myself are hosting a huge desert party. Starting off at about noon with two sand volleyball courts, good tunes, a few kegs of beer and many BBQ's and winding up with a live band and a "Bomb-fire" of biblical proportions. :D We are bringing two trailers and two long bed pickups full of pallets, stumps, firewood etc. We are having it at ranch out near Florence (about an hour from PHX) and the only people to complain are going to be partying with us. Come one come all, if interested, I'll post a flyer.
Skeep
P.S. 4X4's and quads,bikes,trikes encouraged!

Don't forget the spray can mortar cannon!
Take a 3" diameter cast iron or galvanized pipe. 36" long. set one end in the embers, the other end propped up on something like a military mortar cannon. ONe at a time drop in old cans of spray paint, haairspray, WD-40, starter fluid---whatever...taaakes a minute or so and then........whooooosh!!! Its a "blast".!!!

Mandelon,
Did you spend any time with the IRA? JK :D
We aren't trying to set the southwest ablaze...Just a big bombfire in the middle of a HUGE sand wash. Does sound cool though....

It is exactly one hour away from my house @ Baseline&101. Just far enough away that no-one can hear you scream!!!!! There is also those weird sparking lights in the sky out there, not airplanes either, those "star" things so rare here. Just think, in the time it takes you to post say, 40 posts, you could be out there. :D

Jordy,
Maybe we could set up a temporary web connection so you can post color commentary of the party for those who are going to miss it! We just need a repeater, a generator, some IT guys......this may just work.

Or throw some chuncks of big copper wire on the fire for the green glow.

Sleek,
I use to pit for a formula car team, and on the 4th of July at a race, we lit up a mag wheel with a cutting torch and threw it in the infield pond! eek! It was really cool.

Bunch of my Tucson friends do this every year after Christmas. Bunch of firewood and a couple hundred dry Christmas trees are all kinds of fun! Put me on the email list with the maps; not sure if I can make it yet but I'll work on it...
