What's the deal on the Westward Ho hotel in Vegas? I've got a chance to stay there super cheap. It the Ho a decent place to stay? Is it in a seedy part of town? It doesn't look to be on the strip from what I can see.

It's a dirty place up on the north end of the strip near the Stratosphere. You'll want to be down on the south end of the strip where the newer hotels are. That's where the fun it.
My girl just heard mention of the Westward Ho and likened it to a trucker Motel 6.
There are lots of deals to be had. Hell, the Howard Johnson off Tropicana on West side of the 15 isn't a bad place to stay and you're pretty well in the middle of everything with a short cab ride.

Try the Sahara- $35-$50 per night if you book online.
Also Just got back from the Flamingo- $65 a night. Great pool(s) and great pool party. Also it is Octoberfest there now- 2 for 1 Sam Adams, Heineken & Becks !!!!

It is not by the stratosphere. It is right across from the Riviera and next to the stardust and circus circus. It is not that bad really.

-- Tom :) It surpasses the Venetian in elegance, Tom.
Highly recommended. Ask for the Presidential Suite.
I'm sure it's an OK place (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g45963-d114907-Reviews-Westward_Ho_Motel_and_Casino-Las_Vegas_Nevada.html)
, and let's face it, the only time you spend in your hotel room in Vegas is sleeping or planting sausage, anyway.
I would suggest Tom, hit The Pink Taco at the Hard Rock Hotel and / or Cheetah's. Trust me...
Good Luck

Plus,
You can buy the biggest ****ing hot dog you've ever seen for a buck and a half.
I stayed at the Rivera once. Didn't like it much. Just really run down.
Better gambling downtown, better hotels South down the strip.

We recently stayed at the Tropicana which is on the same corner as NY NY, MGM , and Excalibur. It was around $100/ night on a weekend, MUCH cheaper than the other ones I mentioned. You have to stay in the newer tower (can't remember the name)though, kick-ass room w/ mirrors all over the place!! They have a great comedy club at that hotel also.

Try the San Remo next to the Tropicana. It's a great little place with killer restaurants. Prices aren't too bad.

The Westward Ho isn't to bad, worth staying at if it's a cheap deal.
Every hotel/casino in Vegas has a nitch, or something that is different from the rest,, and the Westward Ho is no different.
It's nitch is it's liquor store. It's the cheapest liquor store in Nevada.
The El Cortez is known for cheap rooms and small but lots of payouts,, the Bellaigo for high dollar ambivance, the Circus Circus for it's entertainment,, on and on,,, ect ect,,
As hokey as it is,,, the Westward Ho's rep is it's cheap liquor store.

Stay at the cheapest place you can find. Take the black touque and assault rifle and make some good stories happen. Don't forget the camera.
