Heres one for you.
The city I live in just passed a law that says, I cannot go out in the morning and start my car and leave it unattended.
If the authorities see a vehicle warming up. While the owner is inside finishing a cup of coffee.
They can write you an $85.00 ticket.
There reasoning? To cut down on the cities BAD record of auto thefts.
Do any of you live in cities with simular laws?
Hmmmm, Wonder if that applies to my boat too????

Same things happening here.
Seattle is crazy with anti-war protestors.
But just south of there and in other out lying communities. There is lots of support for the troops. We have three major bases in our backyard.

A lot of cities have gone to this law. Part of it is to discourage people from making theirselves car theft targets and part of it stems from a few cases where kids got into the cars and got hurt. In most cases, if you keep your doors locked while warming it up, they will not ticket you and a lot of the tickets are only written after something else occurs.

So show the cop you got the trick remote type that allows you to start the car from the kitchen while the car stays locked and you sip the Java.
That from a non-coffee drinker

I don't understand why you would need to in the first place? Now that I live in Georgia in doesn't get that cold that I need to anymore, how cold does it get where you live? When I lived up north it would often get cold enough i.e. 10 or 20 below that you had to wait for the power steering fluid and transmission fluid to warm up to make the car drivable but usually by the time you finished scraping the ice/frost off of the windows it was fine. If you are worried about engine life just take it easy for the first mile or two

I would think that the law was enacted to reduce pollutants and conserve decaying dinosaurs, rather than to prevent thefts.
Especially considering the tree hugging whackos that populate that City. Maybe they just "said" it was to reduce thefts to appear less liberal.
Look for a similar law in your neighborhood Kalifornia legislature shortly. burningm

21515a CVC is already a law state wide. All they did is enact a law so that the meter maids can write you, not only the cops. Its reveune based.

It is also a reflection of the policy makers (elected officials) not having a mental link to reality. If the would really ask themselves about the impact of the laws they enact and enforce, and I mean really ask themselves, they may not always put those laws into effect.
Socialists require more control, more rules, down to, well, you know, how often you change your underwear. And resocialization and reeducation of convicted criminals. Yea, like that's going to really work.
Anyway, best way to deal with it, write letters, send emails, make them respond in writing. It takes time and effort, and at times, some high blood pressure meds, but sometimes it pays off.

Not that I'm aware of but in cali it wouldn't surprise me. One thing cool about living in the 909. My town had a bunch of "Pro War" people rallying in the streets a few days ago.
.....take that all you liberal bay area bastards :D You'll get a kick out of this:

Yeah, read the small print. A group of peeps decided to infiltrate an anti-war protest in San Francisco and carry their own signs. Check these out at ProtestWarrior.com (http://www.protestwarrior.com/). :)

Doug that is tool cool. Thanks.
I got into a small agruement with a liberal freak the other day. He sarted with the "Blood for Oil" crap.
My reply:
All Saddam had to do was disarm and none of this would be happening.
Then he said that this is just unfinished business his (Bush's) father didn't complete.
me:
Hmmmmm. There was another president in between Bush and his dad that should have done something but didn't.
Liberal geek:
"Just wait for when Europe and other countries like Sweden opposed to this start to sanctioning us and boycotting the US. Our economy will never recover."
I love it when a lib starts lecturing on economics.
me:
Sweden! You mean my wife won't be able to bring home all that furniture in a box for me to put together anymore? Cool!
lib:
You're being lied to man.
me:
By who?
lib:
The government, the media, etc.
me:
Then I guess there isn't even a war goin on. Far out.
:D
what a dumbass.
