"Don't Say **** the Future, the Future ****s You". -The Paint Store Owner, in the pic Saturday Night Fever.
When I heard that, it was about the same time I started putting my future together with savings and investments. Probably why I remember it.
My future is now, I can retire to the Keys, still relatively young. The next 10 years of my life will be the best 10 years of my life.
Right now,, a DUI could change all that. And that's alot. It's easy to get a DUI in Lake Havasu and Parker. Easier than you think.
So:
Traveling and drinking are now an issue in Parker. My daughter is a good desig driver,,, but being the Parker socialite she is at 17,, she usually has a new day old love interest and can't be bothered. Plus, coming out of her brutal academic grind to a relaxing and (finally) smiling atmosphere in Parker,, I don't want to mess it up for her.
So I've learned to find rides without driving.
One boatride was with a gambler friend. Easily the Bluewaters biggest whale. That means: A guy who bets the most in their casino.
He owns an Ultra,, (is probably Ultras most difficult customer),, and hates to boat alone. Hence, I get a ride to the Casino if I need one.
Getting home is the problem,, but eventually he runs outta money after taking a 3 thousand dollar beating,, and we leave.
He plays dollar video poker machines 2 machines at a time, max bet, and starts with two, 2 inch+ stacks of $20 bills. Burns through the stacks of $20 as fast as he can.
I sit at the inside bar,, and watch the band play and the people come and go.
I believe the Bluewater throws out someone every hour. The center bar is the place to observe this.
I mentioned in another thread,, Bluewater at one time employed huge drunk engine security guards.
It appears now, they use late term pregnant high school girls to throw out trouble makers.
Well, they appear to look that way.
One nicely dressed lady in a suit walked by me while I was at the bar. I thought she was probably a casino employee. She then got in big physical altercation with her husband at a table near the dance floor.
The high school girl looking security moved in,, and was helpless. The situation exploded.
I see why the cops usually hook up people with handcuffs. Bluewater rarely does,, and surrounding people pay the price for this oversite.
Bottles and shot glasses started flying, shrapnel traveling 20 feet,, and a battle was on.
Finally security from the Marina arrived,, after a few boaters in the crowd jumped in and seperated the bickering couple,, and peace was restored.
Most the Parker locals drink at bars within walking distance of their homes. The LEO pressure is that severe. They act correct at the local bars, because most bars in Parker have a permanent 86'd policy.
Get thrown out, ya can't ever come back.
The exception is the Elks lodge in town. A place to avoid. Problem drinkers that have been kicked outta all other Parker bars end up at the Elks.
If you're looking for a fast fight,, the Elks is a good place to go. Just walk in,, someone will try to start one with you in a minute or two.
Takes a committee vote, then a membership mailing, and then a vote of the membership to throw someone out,, so the place breeds assholes like a science class petri dish.
Overall, if ya have friends you can still get around without driving the car or boat if ya plan it right. Don't come off as a ride poacher and ya have to recipocate some how.
RD had desig drivers on the boats at his party. He was really cool making sure I had a ride. They may have suffered a bit,, but the night was a success. It worked perfectly.
Not as much fun for the DD's,, but DUI's today have residual effects that lasts for years.

Great post, our DD is pretty damn responsable, untill the boat is on the trailer. It all down hill for him from there on. Thanks BadBlown572..
What is up with Parker having no taxi service? They would make a killing....
